I hate to leave a negative review on a smaller game with presentation this great, but the gameplay just isn't what I was hoping for. The added mechanics do not make minesweeper that much more interesting. I'm honestly not sure what would make it better, I personally was hoping that the crypt mechanic would be used to create really interesting level layouts, and it would be neat if there were keys and doors or something, but those additions would need to be backed up with interesting level design. More interesting enemies would also be nice.
ASCILL asks "what if Minesweeper had a retro graphics design, a throwback to DOS text-mode games, and was also more of an action game with time limits and moving enemies you have to deal with, too?" The answer is that the former would be cool, but that the latter mostly just makes it worse, especially given the strangely clunky and non-responsive controls, but also just in concept, really - the money symbols being guaranteed safeties makes the Minesweeper part much easier such that you rarely have to puzzle out where mines would be, and the lack of flags plus real-time threat from enemies means you don't want to spend time thinking about it anyway. Not recommended, though I dig the artstyle. It's a nice modern update of how games used to look when I was very young.
Have you ever thought "I wish minesweeper was an action game"? Me neither. Still, this is a fun dungeon crawler with outstanding graphics and music good enough for my kids to ask to buy its soundtrack. The enemies are often annoying, but they do add to the atmosphere. Don't buy this game if you are looking for a challenging puzzle, but it is quite good as a time killer and even has a daily challenge mode. Plays well on a SteamDeck, but I switched to a keyboard because the D-pad edges were starting to hurt my fingers.
This is minesweeper, but you are walking instead of clicking, and there are some light action-ish elements. If you know minesweeper, you will probably enjoy this. If you don't understand minesweeper or aren't good playing it; then you will either hate this game, or this game will teach you to be a good minesweeper player after several trials and mistakes. The music is good, the visuals are gorgeous. I enjoyed my time playing it. Plays well with a gamepad, plays great on the Steam Deck. --- The achievements are a mixed bag: some are natural and okay. But others require playing/solving 15 levels for each day of the week. That sounds a bit like a grind, but not terrible. There is one achievement that requires playing the whole game twice (because hard mode is unlocked after beating the game once). There is one or two missable achievements (collect all hearts in a single playthrough; collect all money on the last level). Unfortunately, there is no level select. In conclusion, all achievements are doable, but some require spending quite some time. (Although, in comparison, I've seen way worse achievements on other games.)
Clever game, nice style.
After playing if for an hour, and currently doing Mission 5, this is a game that I enjoy a lot, but not sure if everyone will enjoy it. As someone who spend a lot of time playing minesweeper on Windows, to me this is like a fun combination of that and an old Apple II game with the added game mechanics, with cool neon ASCII art. The game has me hooked to play more, and also looking forward to working out what's the deal with the Boss. LOL
Great Minesweeper type roguelike with nice ASCII graphics.
un démineur dynamique bizarrement sympa
Juego simple y efectivo. Se siente una obra intermedia o preparatoria para otra más grande. Es así, de hecho, porque el autor se propuso crear un RPG con la misma linea estética. La música, la estética y el gameplay es sencillo. Cumplen y son bien redondos.
