I'll give this game a thumbs-up for the sole reason that it fixed the equipment issues any of the mainstream soulslikes never seem to have acknowledged. You don't upgrade weapons in this game, you upgrade chips that you can freely slot and move between pieces of equipment. Not only does that mean you can transfer upgrade levels freely, you can also apply a chip of any attribute scaling you want to a weapon of your choice, effectively making any weapon viable for any build if you like its moveset. Weapon variety means nothing if 95% of them are unusable for a given playthrough, so this is a great way to fix that.
i finished this game the 3rd time already, and this time with all the achivements too, i think for the atmosphere is one of the best souls like games, there are not too many variant bosses , and the difficulty is not the hardest, but i really like this game, sadly it have many bugs, cuz there are no updates anymore, but i gavent found bugs that stuck me, i still think this game is underrated
Liking it so far. I find the world and level design interesting. It's a bit janky but if you can handle Dark souls 1 this will be fine. Overall it's a competant souls like that feels like it was made by a small team, if you don't expect too much from such a cheap game you will find a fun game that will satify your souls-like urge.
I dont know how I managed to beat this decades ago (praise GOG). This is an exercise in obtuse russian digital ♥♥♥♥ and ball torture. Its so badly designed its a miracle this wasn`t a total flop Also, yes, I beat it with a keyboard. Its the superior soulslike controller
To be honest i got no f*cking idea whats with all the negative reviews, when it comes to souls-like games its easily the closest ive ever seen to the depth in exploration and secrets as an actual dark souls game. Does it have some annoying platforming in it and a bit of jank? sure it does, but does that ruin the game? Absolutely not Easily the best non Fromsoft souls game ive played, its original and sci-fi as well as having plenty of reason to explore every single inch of the map just like you would want to in an actual souls game. Vast majority of these people probably never got out of the first room let alone actually beat the game. Encounters and enemies are interesting, ranged weapons add diversity without taking away from the melee and turning it into Remnant, plenty of crazy weapons to use and build into. (i mean they even got a
f*cking pulse rifle from Aliens
you can get doing a secret quest ffs) and the story is actually interesting and goes into a place i promise you dont expect when you first play it. People need to stop being brain dead and learn to broaden their horizons holy moly
Pretty good game. the only thing I found VERY annoying is limited fast travel. It lets you pick which portals have travel between them basically but the travel devices are VERY rare and hidden. Like you'd have to have previous level knowledge to know which portals to activate. I am now in the DLC and with no fast travel it's very frustrating, makes me want to quit. Edit: changed my mind. I am in the DLC now and am basically soft locked. I made it to some dumb puzzle area which I can't be bothered to solve and I can't get back to the main game simply bc I have no fast travel items. I could take a 30 min trek back to the main checkpoint but nah, I 'm done. Giving this POS a negative, waste of time.
it has a lot of problems and annoying things to it but also it has enough charm in it that in the end i think it was very much worth it
Hellpeak
It's Dark Souls but sci-fi. It's very much inspired directly, it even has custom player messages to help point out some of the world's many secrets. I just wish the systems were a bit more intuitive to engage with. I found myself consulting the internet for several things on first play. It's actually too vast for my liking, I prefer a more linear game (e.g. Wuchang)
THE GAME has great potential, the history seems like its all over the place, the combat is wonky at best, slow, the player's character always put on the typical attack speed restrain and the stun animation of broken guard lefts the player wide open to recieve all incomig attacks, stamina management its extremely poor, to say the least. the bosses are wonky as hell, buggy and worst, they are relentless, no half measures on it, they just keep on chasing and chasing and does not stop, its not a boss fight, its just a straight up abuse every boss fight, no matter how well equiped or leveled you are. the weapons and armors are not even that good to fight on with, daggers are fast, and extremely weak, like a moskito bitting someone's ankle type of thing, mid weapons are swords and mace, somewhat fast and that's it, nothing special, heavy weapons are....slow, but hella slow, like you are on slow motion kind of slow, and you stamina if not invested heavily, you not gonna get far with those weapons, barely any healing for the amount of encounters you have till you reach a boss fight, no guidance at all, you just gotta explore around and pray to not fight something hard-hitting to not waste your healings and pray for actually find enough "cannon fodder" mobs to restore your healing charges, its not fun, its tedious, punishing and, its unfair imo, like other games you are weak as hell, but this game took it to another level kind of weak, the progress on your character level just feels like a barely noticable change as enemies does from really low, to extremely high amounts of damage and no middle ground betwen. the guidance part, partly is solved due to players leaving message, but brruh i cannot be reading every message to guide myself on a maze F*** that. the game is not that good and many mentioned dev abandoned it and by the amout of wonky combat enemies getting into walls, stuck in the main menu, sounds comming from everywere and repeating, seems like the game is just gonna be stuck on this wonky state. the price is the only good thing, cheap as hell and i regret playing this. i tried to like it, i am a fan of souls, but this was hard for me, not even remnant from the ashes was wonky as hell like this.
