HELLO PLAYER

HELLO PLAYER is a simple, minimalist 2D retro platformer slapped together with Unreal and dumped onto Steam by the Russian asset flippers at Big Black Bear. It features ultra minimalist art as you roll a square around various platformer levels while an annoying Twitch streamer nags you in Russian. The game seems to use the likeness of popular streamers such as PewDiePie without permission or acknowledgement, so hopefully this will get a big fat DMCA takedown and we'll have one less bit of Russian shovelware polluting Steam. Big Black Bear have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work.One example of Vadd games/Big Black Bear doing this is [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/817150]Factory Pirates[/url], which is really the "[url=https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/historic/polygon-pirates-low-poly-3d-art-by-synty-92579]Polygon Pirates Low Poly 3D asset pack[/url]" asset, written by the actual developers, Synty Games. There's no English translation for the game, but that's ok. It turns out, the language of bad games is universal. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the fixed resolution simplistic vector art used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the mediocre 2D visuals. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. HELLO PLAYER is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it given the unethical nature of the developer, and the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
