Reviews

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

SÍ MA ANCHE NO. DIPENDE DA TE. Ho amato il primo capitolo. Differente, emotivo, emozionante, commovente, struggente (qualcuno mi fermi), nonostante qualche difetto. Vero, Senua? YES, BUT ALSO NO. IT DEPENDS ON YOU. I loved the first chapter. It was different, emotional, exciting, moving, heartbreaking (someone stop me), despite a few flaws. I waited to play the second chapter because I wanted, once again, to immerse myself in the troubled and traumatized life of this girl, who has now become a woman. The way the narrative and psychosis are handled makes it an instant-buy (and instant-play) in its own right. But all that glitters is not gold. This Hellblade II presents itself as a gold mine (I mean... I still dream about that trailer with the Heilung song at night), but it turns out to be "only" a good game. While in the first game we alternated between combat phases (albeit fairly linear), exploration, puzzles, and wonderful yet eerie landscapes, here those elements are significantly scaled back. Hellblade II is on the verge of being a walking simulator. Long walks, vistas that aren't even this beautiful or detailed in real life, and exceptional storytelling and acting. Then there are the sporadic combat encounters—simplified compared to the previous chapter—and a few very simple puzzles to solve here and there. I must admit, I would have preferred more "gameplay," more things to do and interact with, even during the cinematic action sequences where you can only sit back and watch. Rather than a game like the first one, Hellblade II is a way to continue experiencing Senua's harrowing journey, in a way that is more narrative than anything else. Was it worth it? Yes. Absolutely. But it’s worth keeping in mind that if you decide to take on this experience, you have to take it for what it is, and not compare it too much to the past. The past should be left behind. Right, Senua?
Haunting beautifully created story. This plays out more like a long movie rather than a in depth game. The characters are engaging, the camera work & lighting is amazing. If you enjoy story rich gaming with beautiful visuals, you will like this one.
graphics, animation and transitions are insane.
Most of the game is just dreary rocks and corridors. There are maybe three or four genuinely memorable moments in the whole thing, the rest is limp skirmishes where enemies jump you from off-screen and Senua just stands there spinning around trying to find them. Combat didn't just fail to improve, it actually got worse than the first game. The puzzles have been dumbed down into outright mush, same tedious mechanic as before but even simpler. The voices in her head are still doing heavy lifting, can't say the same for the rest of the cast. Worth playing, but this is not the sequel the first game deserved.
