Better yet, you get to keep and use your opponents' signature abilities in your own deck!

Equip Mod Cards to enhance and modify your Weapon Cards — edit, experiment, adapt, and reformulate your hand and card combinations as you go and refine your personal playstyle!

Accompanied by the Roman poet Virgil and protected by the sanctified Beatrice, you must rescue and befriend the Poets of Limbo to unlock new abilities and perks, ultimate attacks and signature weapons!
Meet all the legendary poets of antiquity including but not limited to Homer, Ovid, Horace and Lucan, and help them find their own way to salvation.

Hell Maiden picks up from the ending of the original Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
Dante is now inexplicably back in Hell after having reached Paradiso — and she's lost all her memories to boot! Unable to remember anything about her past life or her first journey through Hell, Dante is determined to climb her way back to Heaven and once again come face to face with Paradiso's higher powers in search for answers.
A compelling story about passion, justice and love, Hell Maiden is more than a reimagining of the classic poem — it is the exciting continuation of its events!

✦ Two unique levels themed around the Circles of Hell — each with new enemies to beat, quests and challenges to complete, Poets of Limbo to rescue and tough Boss Battles to overcome!
✦ 40+ abilities to mix, match and experiment with.

✦ 2 new abilities per defeated Boss.

what a great game even in early access, it excels in art direction, music, & gameplay imo. it's a blast to play for anyone who likes horde survival or/and deck-building games! (also my dearest got this game 4 me so major brownie points for making our relationship even stronger!)
I need to go to PARADISO...
Overall good early access release. Some minor annoyances (listed below) but otherwise a solid 7.5/10 casual game - staircase at spawn area always blocks pathing, just make the path bigger and remove hindrances - sorting cards and selecting is extremely finicky, often times for no reason, just can't rearrange cards - can only rearrange cards at level ups when selecting new cards - why not just allow rearranging at any time? - some starting weapons are unplayable e.g. Ovid's AOE in Stage 2 Lust, Spear or Bird in Stage 1. Pointless weapons. - some weapons are too much more powerful - the moon is too strong, longinus is too strong, quill and dragon breath are ok, everything else is a waste of time - no option to delete/ drop a card

Controls are very rough which make little to no sense for the AAAA levels of presentation Sound design is top notch, mastered and matrixed proper which is rare in indy. Art has a distinct looked over style and its own clear set of rules of what it will and won't.. Immersion is like an anime similar to the vibes of Holocure were its meant to pull you in .. Music is very 1980-1990 Anime All AAA levels of polish ... Except the control feel it feels like you are a ball on a chain which dashing does not line up well at all .. Your movement is very gimped in terms of how the character feels It's tbh off putting as far as VS clones go but the detail and passion of the listed things above imo make no sense to how this was a oversight or given the ok, when there are 150-200 examples of how to do controls right to the point it has to be intentional. And unfortunately it feels sticky and sickly, and in games like these where you are fighting against mobs and hoards, control is the most important detail and for one reason why: if you cant evade the problem (or run to a save open area), you have to rely ONLY on damage and pushback.. And that likely is why this game controls are so badly unique.. For a first experience the controls are jarring and annoying, and feeling powerless shouldn't be making one scramble to level movement speed ASAP! Not when hoards at the very start will overwhelm (very reminiscent of Infinite Incantations problem: being overwhelmed at the mercy of RNG vs skill).. And it seems ALL of the Negative non ass kissing reviews have the same take being, "Speed first is must" "Insanely grindy" etc.. Meaning the dev's have (Somehow) 0 clue despite they clearly have someone with a brain yet making brainless decisions, more speaks to me in asset packs with sound design, and I can only assume overpaid VA's (You can hear these VA's were hitting well over 5,000k+ in their cadence alone..) And ya it might be a good game, but the grind, the speed limits, and being mobbed by hoards, having to do the same level 10+ times to get to level 2, .. Not a fan as its clearly whaling on review hours on the bones of anime fans. Get Holocure after playing this and you will know how things are done right, and Hell Maiden is one of those "ANIME! games" that is simple a cash out, not game feel fun experience..
Très bon Vampire Survivors-like, qui parvient à se démarquer grâce à son identité visuelle et son style bien à lui. La bande-son est tout simplement magnifique et accompagne parfaitement l'action. Une excellente surprise !
Goty
Not a lot of content yet and the state of it is a little rough, but the foundation and core concepts are all very solid. I wasn't sure if this cocktail of inspirations would work, but It... kinda really does, to my surprise. I don't even like deckbuilders, but here we are. I look forward to seeing the gameplay develop over its early access period. Unsurprisingly, the game already has an incredibly strong artistic quality. The art is divine; the music is sublime; and the character writing is lovely and fun. The voice actors are also putting on a very, very good performance here. Kudos to all involved. Nobody does it quite like AstralShift does. We're getting to paradiso with this one.
It has a story - thats a plus. Controllse are clumsy - big minus Grafics are fine. No good game loop for a Roguelite. Overall not recommented.
I loved the style and the history of the game! I cant wait to see the full game. I had no issues when playing it
