Super Fancy Pants Adventure

Super Fancy Pants Adventures is one of the most intriguing platformers on steam, offering fast-paced adventuring over a short series of worlds. The movement and attack system is unbelievably smooth and highly engaging. However, there are some flaws in the game I've identified that make it fall short to other major platformers. If you're considering purchasing the game, here's a list of pros and cons: ======== PROS ======== - Attack system with the pen is very satisfying - The movement (running, jumping, wall jumping, sliding, rolling, etc...) is incredibly smooth, fast and highly engages you with the level - Good sound design - Good music (but not enough variation = can get repetitive and annoying) - Good upgrade system with the ice cream shop ======== CONS ======== - You can identify several bugs if you play long enough - The level design can get pretty lazy, especially late game (towards the end), you can tell when they cut corners - The NPCs are very lifeless because of their static idle animations (except Cutie Pants), and many of them use previously made animations from descending FPA games. This may make you feel disconnected to the plot. - The game is incomplete. - The diversity of enemies (or baddies) is complete overhauled by inklings after the volcanic eruptions, so you're essentially stuck fighting them for the rest of the game, which gets boring quickly (not to mention you're forced to used the pen so kill them). World 3 dealt with this issue better by adding UNIQUE new baddies every few levels to continue being engaging. SFPA doesn't handle that well, it had a lot of potential in reintroducing old/new enemies but just didn't do that once you get to mid-game. ======== TL;DR ======== SFPA has a lot of potential as a platformer. It's fast, its engaging and you will definitely have fun playing. However, it greatly suffers in poor level and enemy design and the quality of the game declines as you progress through the levels. I still heavily recommend you give it a shot. This is my first Steam Review, please tell me how I did and if I helped make your decision <3

I wish I had my full hours here (I played on a different version), genuinely might be my favorite platformer of all time (As of now). Yes, it has its flaws, yes, it can be a mess, but man, nothing beats the movements in this game, and every additional move you get from the shop expands on your movement if you use it right. Running feels amazing if you can keep up your speed, you can also use your slide to help build your momentum when you're going slow (even on flat ground!), attacking enemies with your basic swings does halt you in place, however, if you use the right moves (mainly the upgrades to your pen, they crack the game wide open) at the right times, you can keep on rushing through like nothing! The pen adds a whole new layer of opportunity that your pencil in the previous entry couldn't, as well as adds an aspect of resource management to your choices, all of that, and the pen literally only has two moves to use! (But I do wish the ability to jump after you dash into an enemy was used a little more, but it's extremely fun to use to keep up speed so, you win some you lose some) The animations are super smooth, and further add to just how buttery smooth the game feels to play, everything from your movement animations, to the ninjas you see in like one part of the game, have surprisingly good animation. You could argue that they are simple drawings, but that doesn't take away just the care and work that was put into the animations. The stages can be forgettable aesthetic wise, hell I mainly remember them as "cave, forest, thing, and volcano", but they are super fun to blast through and were super fun to play for the first time! The music is fantastic too, fits the game perfectly, and is just a good time. Oh man the friggen hats and pants dude, a nice variety, fun to customize Fancy Pants, I wouldn't spend hours here like a fully fleshed out character creator, but I definitely have fun just making random ol' outfits and running around with them. If you like momentum platformers, play this, if you like fast-paced platformers, play this, if you like platformers and have never given momentum based ones a shot, Jesus Christ play this! Short, sweet, pretty easy (at least to me I have like way too much time sunk into this game outside of Steam), amazing time. I love this game so much, genuinely just wish it was longer. You even get the World 1 Remix to come along with your already fun game, and it gives you more items, more stages, more fun!!

Platformers are a great genre, and this game is one of the best I've played. I've loved the Fancy Pants series since childhood, but only recently heard about Super Fancy Pants Adventure. This game is worth it whether you know the series yet or not!

Será que esse jogo sobre um carinha com calças enormes é Super mesmo? Super Fancy Pants Adventure é um jogo que além de dar uma abraçada nas pessoas que já adoravam o Fancy Pants desde os sites com vários jogos Flash na época, ele dá uma pincelada especial e dá uma campanha legal pra você jogar e se divertir com várias coisinhas novas, não é nada incrível nem absurdo mas dá um gostinho bom de ver algo que você jogou na sua infância receber uma versão assim na Steam! O jogo apresenta mapas e mecânicas que não fazem o jogo ser super fácil, mas tu também não vai estar quebrando a cabeça pra passar de um level, então é uma experiência relaxante e tranquila, algo bem gostosinho mesmo. É um jogo muito barato, muito bom e mesmo que seja curto, dá aquela alegria na minha criança interior que jogou FP quando era pequeno, então recomendo pra qualquer um, até pra quem nunca jogou, pois vale a pena de qualquer forma.

Fun and well made platformer. The story is rather short and the game takes around 10-15 hours to 100%. Controls are perfect, smooth and responsive. The artstyle is simple yet artistically pleasing. As someone who dislikes input perfect platfomers that require muscle memory and repeating levels 1000 times until you do them right, this game is perfect, there is usually multiple ways to get past each obstacle, this even applies to most challenge rooms.

Great beginner's platformer. Movement is floaty in a good way, and the levels are bult to accommodate it perfectly. It's a very forgiving game in general. Challenges are fun and distinct with one another. Presentation is very early 2010s and may not be for everyone.
