This is a really simple shooter. What you see on level 1 and 2 is pretty much what you get the rest of the game. That's not really a bad thing. I want that simplicity sometimes.
does not have enough style or fun to get past the basic albeit for a purpose graphics and combat, very very not good
Took me 12 years to finally beat this but man is it such a satisfying play through.

For some reason the game has horrible input delay for the movement keys. Once you let go of any of the WASD keys or try to counter-strafe, your character doesn't respond for like a whole second, it's awful and disorienting.
Heavy Bullets is a unique first person shooter where skill matters and resources need to be managed carefully through a series of goofy vending machines. The main gimmick with this is you start out with six bullets in your revolver. A bullet hit on a monster is an insta-kill but your revolver is limited to those six rounds. Every shot has to count. There are no ammo box pickups along the way but you can fetch the bullet you just fired from where it landed on the ground and load it back into your gun- if you can get to it safely. If you waste your shots and run out of bullets you are done for. With a few exceptions at key points levels are randomly generated so each playthrough is a bit different which keeps the variety in the game fresh. You never know if your path forward will be slightly easier or tougher or weirder. Some of the powerups and gear you can equip are kind of whacked out. But that's what makes this fun. I also really appreciate the minimal retro graphics style and bright washed out color scheme. If you're looking for a short duration game that is different get Heavy Bullets on sale and give it a try.
