About
a minimalistic FPS movement shooter. An energy drink-sized time capsule of endless fighting. A micro-world of bots in a perpetual state of meaningless conversation with each other. Stay as long as you like - they've fought long before you, and they'll fight long after you're gone.

Master a simple and responsive player moveset, featuring sliding, jumping, and a double-jump that allows you to redirect your velocity. Kill enemies with your sword and gun and find unique interactions hidden in these mechanics.

You are a rare visitor in this world. Go deep into chasing high-scores and watch as enemies begin to target you, escalating the gameplay into chaos. Alternatively, sit back and observe the bots stuck in the endless cycle of violence.

Walk around the lobby and explore the world that houses none. Take it all in as the world hangs in a standstill, near entropy but never quite there...
Things I like about hate_net that's different than other Boomer-Shooters
[olist]
Amazing Atmosphere: beautiful N64 graphics with memorable world building (just look at it).
The Mechanics: simple but allow player expression and a good skill ceiling (+ it's satisfying to master).
It's not just a leaderboard: there's a very cool story with multiple endings (and secrets).
Great pacing: I got all the achievements in just about 2h, so it doesn't overstay it's welcome (incase you get bored of arcade games like me). [/olist]
Honorable mentions

The game is not too hard for a boomer-shooter.
Very cool secrets for a short game.

Was pleasantly surprised with the secret boss fight.

The secret ending was so unique and heartwarming.

The dev left a secret tutorial note when you go to a place you're not suppose to in the tutorial, and I think that's cool af.

Verdict
hate_net is a deep gorgeous game about a dead video game, and I love it so much. I am not joking when I say this small 2h game is more complete then most 50h games. It takes me back to a time when video games were so interesting and filled with wonder and curiosity. hate_net is the silksong that small devs should strive to make. 10/10 masterpiece. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
short to 100% but for a first game it's pretty good, i really like the art direction and the few interactions with bots. i'm waiting for new update or a spiritual sequel ^^
very cool
very charming little faux old online arena shooter, enjoyed the challenge of the fights and seeing the secrets through to the end
Good The future?
cute game with a nice concept
cute little game
Very good game, I like the mechanics, very fun game
cool singleplayer shooter with a fun commentary on fps'.
Quality over quantity - hate.net took me just under an hour to 100%, but it made a big impact for such a short experience. The aesthetics are immaculate and the controls are perfect, everything works intuitively and smoothly. The story is told through interactions with other fictional players and asks philosophical questions about some aspects of multiplayer gaming culture's affect on our minds/souls. Really interesting work - I'm excited to see what the dev makes next.
