FUN HALLOWEEN THEMED GAME
Pros: + Difficult but fair + Great Halloween vibes and pixel art + An array of fun and challenging bosses + Large cast of unlockable characters, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and endings Cons: - There are a few blind jumps over instadeath spikes that are just cheap - The game is very short once you get the hang of it. Even shorter if you aren't interested in replaying to get all the characters/achievements Just a fun little game that I greatly enjoyed my time with.
Really fun retro platformer

me comfort game
possibly the greatest game of our time
Its 8-Bit Dark souls: Halloween Boogaloo
First I want to say that the game is pretty adorable and very fitting to the Halloween season. It is a fun little platformer, but has the default old school difficulty. Since I just wanted to see the whole game I turned on 99 lives and forgiving saves to ease the struggle. It was fun, but since I'm not one for old school platformer difficulty I wouldn't play it again. I think if you go into it knowing it will be difficult on normal difficulty and relatively short you will enjoy a cute Halloween romp!
The controls are solid, the music excellent at evoking NES, Master System, and others of the era, and every October I play the hell out of it. It can be beaten fairly quickly, so each time I unlock another character I blast through it again, sometimes back to back multiple times. Perfect on the Steam Deck too. I need more games like this in my life.
Short, simple, oldschool platformer. Pretty much does what it says on the tin. The bonus in this game is that there are collectibles for a "better ending", there are multiple characters to play and unlock (each have a particular fire pattern/skill) and each of those characters have their own small unique ending as well - which I think is a nice little touch and inspired me to finish the game with each character. It is a short game, but because you have limited lives (oldschool, remember) the whole game as a result is a shorter experience - you can make some changes to this setup though; 99 Lives, 1 HP, etc etc. The chiptunes in this are pretty good and the boss fights are each unique (there's about 10 of them in total) and are challenging enough to master and find patterns; though a nice change-up is when you try different characters and find the difficulty changes on the playstyle you need to adapt to. I would recommend when on sale - as I say, it is a short game, though still fun. :)
