Short version: Do NOT get this game. You can't save your progress, the levels are frustrating death traps, and it really seems like the developers tried to ensure you won't enjoy yourself at all while playing it. Stay away from this P.O.S. Long version: Despite being a modern game, all the frustrating features shown in 'classic' games are still here and thriving. Bad level designs, dickishly placed enemies, frustrating gimmicks, useless attacks, knock back from enemy attacks sending you flying into a pit of spikes, and much more are all here to make sure that you will not enjoy yourself in the slightest. There is also a HUGE issue that the games doesn't save your progress, so if you made the same mistake as I did, and got about halfway thru the game and tried to come back to it later, you'll find all your progress has been flushed down the toilet and you have to start all over again. It's not a long game, but there is NO excuse for this and makes the game an absolute chore since it apparently expects you to finish the whole thing in one sitting. I LOVE Halloween and retro games, and have tried several times to enjoy this, but it gives me a headache ever damn time due to all the frustrating features and hair pulling concepts that the developers though was a good idea to include. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT get the game. DO NOT be suckered in by the cute art style and/or gooey reviews talking about 8-bit nostalgia. There are MUCH better games out there, that need more attention than this frustrating, half bake mess.
this game is super fun with the right amount of difficulty..a nice game for a cozy night
This game does two things. The first is that it reminds me of the old days, playing games as a kid on my grandmas computer, in a time before desktop icons, the insanity of adolescence, and the ensuing suffocating dogpile of life as an adult. It's a simple life, here. The second is that it heralds the best time of year, in my infernal opinion. It ain't Halloween until I've projectile vomited candy corn onto a chainsaw maniac until its dead.
epic.
pumpkin hardcore mode 7u7
Short, simple, oldschool platformer. Pretty much does what it says on the tin. The bonus in this game is that there are collectibles for a "better ending", there are multiple characters to play and unlock (each have a particular fire pattern/skill) and each of those characters have their own small unique ending as well - which I think is a nice little touch and inspired me to finish the game with each character. It is a short game, but because you have limited lives (oldschool, remember) the whole game as a result is a shorter experience - you can make some changes to this setup though; 99 Lives, 1 HP, etc etc. The chiptunes in this are pretty good and the boss fights are each unique (there's about 10 of them in total) and are challenging enough to master and find patterns; though a nice change-up is when you try different characters and find the difficulty changes on the playstyle you need to adapt to. I would recommend when on sale - as I say, it is a short game, though still fun. :)
.
Short platformer game, a bit unique since it has a shooting mechanic but the range isnt that great comparing to other shooting games. It starts off easy, then medium around mid level, and it gets hard on the last one. Feels like something out of the classic games so its pretty nice.
HALLOWEEN FOREVER!! <3
