Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 7 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Title: A Glitchy Grindfest That Deserves Better Review: .hack//G.U. Last Recode is four games bundled together—Rebirth, Reminisce, Redemption, and Reconnection. On paper, that makes the $50 price tag seem fair. But honestly, this remaster feels more like a relic that aged poorly than a celebration of the series. First off, the technical issues are brutal: No cloud saves (thanks, Bandai, for removing them for some ungodly reason). Frequent crashes, often during scene transitions or critical story areas. Huge risk of losing hours of progress, or even your entire save. Buggy freezes that feel more like bad coding than the “rogue A.I.” storyline. Gameplay-wise, it’s monotony wrapped in nostalgia. The combat is basically a stripped-down Tales system—okay at first, but quickly stale. Nearly everything funnels you into endless copy-paste dungeons. Need info? Dungeon. Want a boss fight? Dungeon. Trying to progress story dialogue? Yep, dungeon first. Grinding isn’t optional—it’s the backbone of the design. Story & Characters: The premise is cool—stopping player killers in an MMO-gone-wrong has superhero vibes. But the pacing kills it. Vol. 1 in particular drags with back-to-back tutorials and a tournament arc where every single match is robbed from you by cutscenes. Characters aren’t bad, but generic; they feel like archetypes you’ve seen in 5+ other JRPGs. The “coma from playing a game” storyline works if you squint and accept “because magic.” Otherwise, it’s pretty juvenile. There are some good moments—the avatar fights are exciting, Atoli’s crush on Haseo has its cute beats, and the overarching narrative has potential. But the grind, pacing issues, and technical problems bury it. Personal Take: I stepped away multiple times out of sheer boredom—ended up playing 7 Days to Die, Pokémon ROM hacks, Hot Wheels & Lego rides with my kid, and Diablo IV with strangers instead. That says it all. As of 8/19/25, I officially retired this game and deleted it from my backlog. Verdict: As a movie? Solid 6/10—watch the cutscenes on YouTube or revisit the anime. As a game? 4/10 at best. Tedious, buggy, and outdated. If you want to experience .hack//G.U., you’re honestly better off emulating the original PS2 versions on PCSX2 than wasting time on this watered-down remaster. This deserves a true remake, not this lazy port. Would I recommend it? ❌ No. Not even on sale. I wasted $20, don’t repeat my mistake.

Yeah this is one of the best rpgs on Steam in my book. Great Story, Great Character Growth, Great Soundtrack, Wonderful Gameplay and Many Events and Side quests that both change your opinions and views on everyone has the story continues. Highly recommend to anyone who has not played though i wish they had the first original Dot Hack Four Games Remastered as well.
The cutscenes are so long and unskippable
... I literally shat my pants. 👖💩 Thanks, CC2! I needed that! 😭
Bring back the original. Outbreak was perfect. PERFECT. For the love of god, bring back my Grunty farm, silver & golden axes.
I love this game so far but no cloud saves is nuts...
One of my all time favourite franches. This trilogy kept me company during some very dark and lonely times in my life, and holds a very special place in my heart. I still have my PS2 copies in pristine condition. Cannot recommend highly enough for fans of RPGs.
Would recommend with a disclaimer or two. (First JRPG I got really into, played it originally on PS2.) 3 Notes for the Remaster: -Remaster is mostly hd retextures without touching the core models and the combat system is identical to what it was in the 2002 release, from what I can remember, which means combat feels a bit dated and slow at times. -Cutscenes got massive overhauls and redraws, pretty much updated to match modern graphics. -English voice-acting wasn't changed is on-par with similar games from early-2000's released in North America, main character comes across very edge-lordy at times. Voices can be a bit cringy, but nothing worse than the average voice-acting for english dubs in anime, if you normally play JRPG's in english, this game won't be anything too diff or out of the ordinary from that. For those that didn't play the original 2002-3 games: -.Hack//G.U. is a game that you play as a top MMO player, the game includes both in-game MMO playtime as well as time where you log out and can access the MC's desktop, where there is a side TCG minigame based around the MMO's universe, an entire news app that updates to show in-world new broadcasts like youtube-videos, in-universe forums where you can download "fanart" (art that is part of the game shown as fanart), etc, to use as desktops or in-game avatars, icons, etc, and other unnecesarily detailed side aspects that you rarely are forced to interact with but exists on the side as added detail and lore -The in-game MMO has a supposed 'random-gen' system where there is a couple of tilesets that you input generation seed's into to generate the area. There are 2-4ish tilesets per each game (Recode includes all 4 of the original games), so some ppl may find these tilesets get redudant or boring. -There is several collection-type of side minigames and professions, including a guild shop you can have npc's sell items for you in and guild housing, ultimately meaning there is an almost disgusting amount of side content that you will be shown exists through the main story but never forced to play anything more than the surface of. -The story itself was something that defined MMO's that break into reality and .hack was a universe that ultimately inspired later works like SAO with showing consequences of video games impacting reality, although .Hack//G.U. is a much different story from SAO. (And much older, not sure why I've seen anyone online say its a ripoff of SAO when SAO was published years after.) -The game is long. As of writing this, I was casually playing and not focusing on completion, I was nearing the end of maybe 2/3 of the 1st game of 4, so itll probably be atleast 100 hrs for me to get through all of it. One of the most immersive games I've ever played with insane amounts of detail put into the story and universe. Rough around the edges but worth it if you can look past some of the aged and rugged parts.
Its great, 4 games in 1. 13 hours into the first one, still not even halfway done. Paid 9$ on sale. This game is what you get if you mix the cool "persona" part of the persona games, with tales of symphonia's combat system, mixed with the story of sword art online
I'm not saying that this game isn't good-- I just didn't get to actually play it yet. It's default setup is for controller. The only prompt commands it displays are for controller too. If you play on PC and don't own a controller (like me at the moment), I'd recommend you not go for this game unless you're okay with figuring out what keys are what buttons.
