Nice
Really fun game. Wish it was longer but that's not a negative
Simple, short side scroller with a nice story line that doesn't pull you out of the gameplay too much. The platforming feels nice and has all the elements you'd expect, but it's not the focus. Combat is the main thing you'll be challenged by and it's enjoyable. Weapon feedback is good, enemy variety is sufficient, but the controls are a bit of a letdown. You get the choice to fluidly switch between using one or two sticks to control your character's movement and attacks, but both approaches come short of being satisfactory. Using a single stick doesn't work well for combat because the game's too fast and using a shotgun requires you to be more agile than a single stick doing double duty can allow. It also makes you unable to block without dashing first. If you use both sticks, you'll find that the left stick still affects where your weapon is pointed. If you want to dash, the direction is determined by the left stick, even though the character dashes by pointing and opening the umbrella in a certain direction. Dashing and blocking also share a button, which means you need to let go of the movement stick to use the block without dashing. There are some other quirks that mess with you when using either control method, but I won't go on. It's an issue, but doesn't ruin the game.
