GTR - FIA GT Racing Game

[h1]ACHTUNG: auf heutigen Rechnern kaum noch lauffähig[/h1] "GTR - FIA GT Racing Game" ist eine Rennsimulation aus dem Jahre 2004. In seiner Zeit war "GTR" eine legendäre Simulation. Was SimBin da auf die Beine gestellt hat, war in Punkto Realismus eine Macht. Das Fahrverhalten war herausragend ausdifferenziert. Wer ein gutes Lenkrad besaß, konnte in den Genuß eines tollen Force Feedbacks kommen. Die Sounds können heute noch mithalten. Und auch die Grafik ist zwar etwas angestaubt, aber beeindruckt noch immer. Die Modelle der über 50 verschiedenen Fahrzeuge waren detailreich. Der Fuhrpark reichte von Ferraris über eine Corvette C5-R bis zu einem BMW Z3 M. Ein Seat Toledo GT ist ebenso am Start wie ein Lamborghini Murcielago, ein Saleen S7-R oder ein Lotus Elise. Ein beeindruckender Fuhrpark also mit reichlich schicken und schnellen Wagen. Die Cockpitansichten der Rennwagen (in einer anderen Ansicht sollte man einen Simulator eh nicht fahren) sind detailreich und vor allem informativ. Zumindest bei den modernen Digitaldisplays werden reichlich Informationen angezeigt. Simuliert wird viel. So ist der Grip der Reifen deutlich spürbar. Kalte Reifen sind nur schwer zu beherrschen, abgefahrene Reifen beginnen merklich zu rutschen. Auch Wetterwechsel werden dynamisch simuliert. Ein PS-Monster in strömendem Regen auf der Strecke zu halten, ist eine nicht zu unterschätzende Aufgabe. Die Strecken sind zwar nicht so zahlreich, dafür aber richtig gut gebaut. Klassiker wie Monza, Donington, Magny-Cours und Spa sind mit dabei. Auch in Oschersleben oder Catalunya können wir unsere Runden drehen. Natürlich sind inzwischen noch bessere Simulatoren auf dem Markt. Gegen Assetto Corsa oder Automobilista kann ein so alter Titel nicht anstinken. Und dennoch ist das Fahrgefühl immer noch deutlich besser und realistischer als etwa in einem "Project Cars". Vernichtend wirkt aber die Tatsache, daß dieser erste Teil kaum auf modernen Rechnern zum Laufen zu bringen ist. Weder mit der CD-Version noch mit der Steam-Version ist mir das gelungen, trotz einiger Versuche und Tricks. Wer einen Klassiker der Rennspielgeschichte zocken will, sollte lieber zu dem Nachfolger "GTR2" greifen. Der läuft in der Regel auch noch auf heutigen Rechenknechten und ist eh die nochmal verbesserte Version dieses Spiels. Loved this game back in the day. Simbin is the only company to ever have nailed the sound of the Saleen S7. Picked it up tonight and it won't run due to "insufficient video memory". Little drunk and the fix is a little too much for my inebriated brain so requesting a refund and picking up GTR 2 instead.

If you are getting the Insufficient memory error, do the following: - Press Win + R to open run, type in dxdiag and hit enter - Save your information somewhere, open it, find the 'Device Identifier' line, and copy the code within the brackets - Go to your documents, find and open the GTR folder, and open config.ini - Paste your Device Identifier code next to VIDEOGUID= - Save it and go race your silly little cars

Definitely worth playin, race sim it is.

It's a great racing simulation for its price and can be adjusted to play like an arcade game too thanks to the many options it has. If you don't want to spend too much time tweaking, you can just choose one of the 3 modes on the startup screen ( arcade, semi-pro and simulation ). So it can be played with keyboard, controller or wheel. GTR - FIA GT is nowadays mostly known among the sim racing community, but when it was released its name was on almost every popular gaming magazine. It's one of the racing games that took the gameplay to the next level, with realistic driving physics and dynamic weather. The weather also affects the driving and is not just for show, the track becomes slippery when it's raining. The selection of circuits is not as rich as other popular simulations of its time but adequate considering the price. But I like that I can play the old version of Spa-Francorchamps which is not added in newer sims. A few others that I could recognize are the Donington circuit and Enna Pergusa. The car list however is great. It has Porsche 911s, Ferraris and other common GT cars, but then some other rare ones such as the Mosler, Murcielago R-GT and Saleen S7. The last two are actually some of my favorites. One negative - the graphics aren't exactly as the screenshots show. The in-game graphics aren't bad, but it seems like the store page screenshots have more bloom, motion blur and antialiasing. One thing that kinda bothered me is that even if I run on a very high resolution ( 5K ) the antialiasing is still kinda lacking. Car interiors look pretty clean though. Can't complain about the sounds though, they are spot on and I love how realistic the turbo sounds. And last but not least an impressive soundtrack.

Problemi a parte di avvio risolvibili tramite la comunity, questo nonostante sia ormai vecchiotto, rimane un ottimo simulatore al pari di quelli moderni, per chi è appassionato della simulazione lo consiglio caldamente.
