Achievements, straight up, do not work... other than that, the game is absolutely awesome, and I can't recommend it enough. Really fun either solo or with friends, great mechanics, very fun combat, good maps, and really nice customisation.
for anyone who is looking for a fun 2D fighting game with simple mechanics, this is for you.
The perfect offline game to kill time with, if you have some friends to play with its even better.
There is a surprisingly small fanbase for what I consider to be the best version and evolution of the massive side scrolling VS game, Nidhog. Griefhelm has fantastic combat, great additions to the system, and can be a true treat for a party. With up to four players, even using AI, it can get really strategic and visually spectacular! There definitely is some jank, I believe due to the single man development. For example, why have 16 weapon slots when there are only 8 in the game? Why have the font and UI generally be ugly and hard to read? Those are things teams usually work out, but I can understand falling to the wayside if the single dev isn't very passionate about those particular pieces of the puzzle. I'd also say a huge amount of time was put into a single player "campaign", when in my mind, this type of game is inherently boring playing exclusively against AI. Either way, Griefhelm is a great success in it's core gameplay concepts and is a real treat to play. It seems like it's completed in it's development lifecycle, so here's hoping the best for the developer on their future projects!
This game is actually a really fun experience, Haven't completed the game just yet but very close and its been a smooth grind and a pretty fun party game.
**EDIT** Servers are now working well again after the dev's intervention. The game is great, it has rapid and fun action with great graphics. There are extra game modes where bots can defend your side of the map or you can team up to take on waves of enemies in Horde. It's an excellent game, I'm looking forward to trying out the 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 mode with more players, though we did have a go with the bots and this was pretty fun too. **OLD** Cannot recommend the game sadly. It looks great, and it has the same fun and fast paced gameplay as Nidhogg, however the servers are empty and you can only play with a friend via remote play which we found quite laggy. I couldn't even get the local campaign to work. There's also an issue with the menu text being cut off, though this didn't affect functionality. Hopefully it gets fixed / reactivated!
no online players can't see the enemy half the time because of the 'effects' neat premise, Nidhogg was better.
Griefhelm is a super fun game! I love medieval and tactical sword fighting but i also love stories in which you can pick your own path for better or for worse.... This game is worth getting and mastering as you feel very accomplished! I just wish there was a little more as once id got the hang of it and completed the campaign/story there wasn't anything left for me to do.
This game is really fun. It gets really challenging. I wish there was other players on. This would be a really fun online game. Either way, the campaign is fun. Really simple controls, but takes skill to get good at.
