gameplay is fun just somehow game is slow or you feel heavy .. AI in normal games are overwhelming

A blast from not so far past. Grey goo in short - fine RTS game made in style of atmosphere of RTS games of past decade. You woun't find any "heroes", "unit promotion" or "field battle powers". Nothing at all. Just plain simple C&C-ish economy with 1 resource and 4 distinct races doing their battle on Ecosyste 09. I woun't tell all story - it's pretty simple, I just describe my own feelings and thoughts about game. We have just plain RTS game. There 4 different races who fight for dominance in this world. All of them is bit remind me factions from Earth-2140-2160 series. But insteda of Euroalliance, Atlantic union and Celestial Corporation we have 4 really distinct races that plays and feel different. Insteda of all crushing nuke we have epic unit but making epic unit woun't gurantee your victory (but make it easier) . Highly Technologically advanced humans use drones of all kind - from fast scouts to heavy bombers and assault tanks, mysterious Grey Goo played mostly like martians from "Earth 2160" - they have no structures and rapidly multilpy and evolve right on battlefield, a proud Beta give a punch with load of mobile forces and "everywhereplacing" hubs and deadly Shroud utilize building system that reminds mix between Starcraft's zergs and protoss same time. The story of conflict ain't suprising but gave me a good enjoyment. It's really nice game with decent graphics, good soundtrack and normal gameplay. It can give yoy good vibes of RTS of mid 00's without any extra option like "upgrade your hero" or "make a difficult story choice" - plain, simple, nice strategy. Give it a try - you may love it if you hungry for some rts games .
This is a well-made Sci-Fi RTS game with lots of polish, interesting mechanics, and a new IP. Sadly, it just never 'clicked' with me, despite the many things I liked. Nonetheless, I recommend it because there is a lot of good here; it's just not to my tastes and I wouldn't want to discourage someone from trying a good product Things I liked: > Base functions and economy feel meaningfully different for each faction > The hotkey system is one of the best and most intuitive I've ever seen > Unit roles are easy to understand and apply in combat > Upgrades are simple and often change units' gameplay > Battles are exciting and fun to watch unfold > Matches are fast-paced > Aesthetics. The maps are pretty. The cutscenes have great production value and voice quality. Each faction has their own distinct visual and auditory presence. I also liked having an alien faction be the low-tech, tough survivors. Humans are normally given that role, and it made the Beta pleasantly down-to-earth and sympathetic What I didn't like Troops themselves feel very samey. Every faction has their frontline damage dealer/taker, their long-range splash damage artillery, their anti-air, the big-♥♥♥♥ epic unit, etc... I'm bad at micro, so perhaps it makes a bigger deal when they're used better, but each unit type has the same weaknesses, similar build costs and stats, even the same hotkey presses to build it across all factions. There are some exceptions (Goo Proteans, humans/Beta aircraft), but outside of base defenses I never felt like I had combat options that my opponents didn't. It makes for very balanced gameplay. Rather than having a specialty to focus on, each faction must juggle all the different avenues of combat at once, and that's just not my thing
How do you make Grey Goo? You mix equal parts Supreme Commander and Command & Conquer, add a dash of StarCraft, and leave the spice of originality on the shelf. When the makers of this game came up with the name I doubt they anticipated how succinctly it would describe the game itself - a generic mix of blandness and mediocrity. Even the one mildly original idea the game has to offer, the titular Grey Goo faction, is like a cross between the Zerg from StarCraft and the Scrin from C&C 3. Aesthetically the other two factions, Betas and Humans, are almost indistinguishable from, respectively, the UEF and Aeon from Supreme Commander. And in terms of combat gameplay (as opposed to base-building, which admittedly is different across the factions) all three factions play the same - spam the tank unit and send it out to roll over the enemy, maybe add an Epic unit (an idea lifted wholesale from the Experimental units in Supreme Commander) into the mix.
