Great Alhcemist (yes, that's how the developer spelled the name... not Alchemist, "Alhcemist", you can't make this stuff up) is a NW.js based, horribly generic match-3 game where you move gems around. It's less intricate than the 1990's Bejewelled game this is ripping off. To put it mildly, this is garbage. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. Of course you can change the language, between English and... you guessed it, Russian. Yep, another Russian asset flip type cash grab has been dumped on Steam. This really does feel like it's asset flipped, too, although I couldn't locate any specific asset this might have come from, there's plenty of free demo/tutorials for Match-3 games on Github. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes this is a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. Great Alhcemist may seem relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it given you can play better Match-3 games free on mobile or on the web. Why should anyone pay money for this?

match 3 game with timed levels and objectives. have played about 12 out of 30 levels so far. nice casual game with a clear user interface, quick loading, quick and clean exit. haven't noticed any bugs or anything negative so far - seems like a nice clean fun casual game. there is also a free game mode that i gave a quick try but didn't stick with it. i don't usually play match 3 games as a standard, so i can't really compare with others except to say that i think this will be one of those games i go back to every now and again when i feel like a casual distraction. fair value and i think the first match 3 type game to make it into my "staples" collection.
Tragically bland and uninteresting match three game. The look had given me hope that there would be some depth to it, maybe some sort of alchemical lab where I could build or buy upgrades, but no, it's just small area, and rapid fire match three play where you often get way more out of the random falling gems than anything you yourself has done. Cannot recommend. ADDENDUM: I usually try to push thru on these bad games, but I am uninstalling at less than an hour, our of sheer boredom.
Great Alhcemist is a compact match-three puzzle title that attempts to distinguish itself through a darker thematic framing while relying on very familiar mechanics at its core. It places players in the role of a medieval alchemist during a time of widespread disease, where each puzzle is presented as an attempt to treat afflicted patients. This narrative context gives the game a slightly more serious tone than most entries in the genre, though the gameplay itself remains rooted in straightforward pattern matching and quick decision-making. The core loop follows the traditional structure of aligning identical elements to clear them from the board and achieve specific objectives. The rules are easy to grasp, allowing players to quickly understand how to progress through each level. Early stages focus on introducing the basics in a simple and accessible way, making it suitable for casual play. As the game advances, additional constraints and objectives are introduced, requiring more careful planning and faster reactions. The inclusion of time pressure in certain levels adds tension, turning what might otherwise be a relaxed puzzle experience into something more urgent and demanding. Progression is built around a series of increasingly difficult stages, each representing a new challenge to overcome. While the game introduces a few new mechanics and tools along the way, these additions are relatively modest and do not significantly alter the core gameplay. Instead, the difficulty curve relies on more complex board layouts and tighter conditions for success. This approach keeps the experience consistent, but it also means that the game does not evolve dramatically over time, making later stages feel like extensions of earlier ones rather than entirely new experiences. The overall pacing is steady and manageable, with a limited number of levels that can be completed within a relatively short period. This makes the game well-suited for brief sessions, as players can progress through multiple stages without a large time commitment. However, the compact nature of the game also highlights its limited scope. Once the available levels have been completed, there is little additional content to explore, and replayability depends mainly on revisiting stages to improve performance rather than discovering new material. Visually, the game adopts a simple 2D presentation that emphasizes clarity. The puzzle elements are easy to distinguish, ensuring that players can quickly read the board and make decisions under pressure. While the darker theme suggests a more atmospheric approach, the visual style remains relatively bright and functional, creating a contrast between the subject matter and the presentation. The audio design supports the experience with subtle ambient elements, but it does not play a major role in shaping the overall mood. One of the more distinctive aspects of the game is its attempt to blend a casual puzzle format with a historical and thematic backdrop. While the idea of treating patients during a plague adds context, it is not deeply explored, and the narrative remains minimal. The theme serves more as a framing device than as an integral part of the gameplay, which may leave some players wanting a stronger connection between the story and the mechanics. In the end, Great Alhcemist offers a straightforward and accessible puzzle experience that succeeds in delivering a familiar gameplay loop with a slight thematic twist. It is easy to pick up and provides a moderate challenge as players progress through its levels, but it does not introduce enough new ideas to stand out within the genre. Its limited content and lack of deeper systems make it best suited for short sessions rather than extended play, appealing primarily to those who enjoy simple, traditional puzzle mechanics. It’s alright, really! Once I turned off the sound effects, I actually enjoyed playing it. The sounds can get really repetitive and clunky, and they don’t really match the music. They’d be much better if they were more subtle and less repetitive every 3 seconds. Aside from that, the game works well. It has a few unlocks, achievements, a decent regular mode, and a free game mode too. I’m definitely going to get my money’s worth from it. I just wish for two things in future versions: one, that the spelling mistake in the title gets fixed, and two, that the sound effects are improved and made more subtle to blend better with the music. But yeah, why not give it a try? It’s a fun little match-3 game.

It's alright, really! Once I'd turned off the sound effects, I actually enjoyed playing it. The sounds are really repetitive and clunky - they don't go at all with the music and really should be something more subtle I think.. some more mellow sounds and preferably ones that don't sound as repetitive when repeated every 3 seconds. Apart from the sound effects, the game works really well and it has a few unlocks, achievements, a decent 'regular' mode and free game mode too. I'll get my moneys worth from it, for sure. I just wish for 2 things in future versions - one that the spelling mistake in the title be fixed (!) and the other that the sounds be improved / made more subtle to blend in with the music more. Anyway, yeah, why not give it a go? It's a fun little match 3 game.
我这辈子玩过所有游戏遇到的BUG加起来,恐怕都没有这款游戏里那么多……
