The Kingdom of Myrtana has been invaded by a relentless horde of orcs. Desperate for powerful weapons to repel them, King Rhobar II orders the mining of vast quantities of magical ore, setting every available prisoner to work in the Khorinis mines. To ensure no one escapes, the King commands his most skilled mages to erect a magical barrier. But something goes terribly wrong, and the magic spirals out of control, trapping everyone inside. The prisoners rebel, transforming the mine into a lawless territory ruled by the Colony’s most brutal inmates.
Now, the King must negotiate with these new rulers, as tensions rise among the mine's factions. Amidst the chaos, the arrival of an unknown prisoner will change everything …

great game just as i remembered it i had a few sound bugsd but nithing to stop playing thanks to all involed will be doing another run through soon
I've just finished my first playthrough of the Gothic 1 Remake and here are my thoughts on the game so far: Pros: - very nice atmosphere - the world feels alive and there are tons of npc's with a lot of character - graphics - the game looks absolutely beautiful - true to the orignal - it's a slow "oldschool" rpg and Alkimia kept it that way which I like - exploration - a ton of interesting locations and behind every corner is something worth exploring Cons: - very buggy at times - I had a lot of quests that were very bugged, some even so bad that I could not complete the quest at all. Also there are very annoying sound bugs (sound complety cutting out until you restart the game) - a TON of walking around for quests - I feel like half of my playtime consisted of walking between camps and to quest-npc's - uncomprehensible quest logs - some quest logs just tell you straight up wrong information where to go or whom to meet, so that can become qute frustrating at times - balancing - magic for example is just straight up unusable at times may it be because it's also very buggy (fireballs hitting invisible walls for example) or enemies just being immune to magic (good luck magic only users) - fighting - sometimes feels a little wonky and all over the place. Hitboxes can be weird as well as the parry or dodge timings - rewards - seem all over the place. Certain very long quests give like 500xp, while some SINGLE enemies give you up to 10k xp. Also the rewards for exploration seem underwhelming a lot of the times Neutral: - voiceacting - varies A LOT! Sometimes it's excellent and sometimes you just cringe everytime certain npc's speak (I am looking at you Xardas' demon) Gothic 1 Remake is certainly not a perfect game, but the flaws it has it outweighs with a lot of charme, athmosphere and fun exploration. The last time I had so much fun just walking around and exploring every cave or interesting looking landmark was with Skyrim and I think that says a lot about this game. If you enjoyed the original Gothic, you will most certainly like the remake. I think with a few patches and more balancing, this game can become one of the best rpg's of all time.
An absolute masterpiece of a remake! The developers perfectly captured the gritty atmosphere and raw charm of the original game while modernizing it for today's standards. Pros: - Faithful Adaptation: The world feels exactly as dangerous and immersive as you remember. - Meaningful Expansions: New quests and expanded lore blend seamlessly into the existing story without feeling like filler. - Stunning Visuals: The colony looks breathtakingly beautiful yet appropriately grim. - Modernized Combat: Controls feel fluid while keeping the tactical weight of the classic progression. Cons: - Lockpicking Mechanic: The system feels overly tedious and sometimes frustratingly difficult. If you loved the original, this is a must-buy. If you are new to the colony, prepare for an unforgettable RPG experience. Highly recommended!
Great game!
A fantastic game, with great setting, great lore, great story, great performances, great action, great music, great atmosphere and much much more! It’s great how faithful they chose to remain to the original game, from the story and tone to the gameplay and overall feel. A LOT of backtracking - about 60% of my playtime i reckon - but a really great journey nonetheless. Regarding the ending (SPOILERS):
I was initially disappointed with how short and abrupt the ending came off. However, after checking the original ending of the game I understand, respect and appreciate how the game ended.
Looking forward to more Gothic and more from this studio!
Stary dobry Gothic
Wow Wow Wow !
