Golfinite

This is a game to really relax to. At least at first. Get better and try the harder courses. Losing doesn't amount to anything except having to try again. It's a really good game, and that's even BEFORE you take the various spins to the ball, and the special balls that can be sold in the game.......

Probably a one off for me but I got my money's worth. I picked it up on sale and killed a few hours on my Steam Deck. I'm good with what I got out of it. But it's admittedly not for me. The actual golfing is too easy, greens unsatisfying, rough/traps irrelevant since your targeting adjusts for you, and there's just not enough variety. Playing "just" golf without the cute little obstacles is all but a formality here. There's no guess work. So yes, the cute little obstacles are well, the only only obstacles. Just not in the sense of what they're meant to be. They basically just amount to areas you avoid, which is a breeze because of how approachable the golfing is. Lay up. Over-power your shot. Etc. If you've played a mild amount of golf games before, you'll maybe land in one obstacle every 9 holes. Maybe. Granted you can aim for some on purpose like the portals, but I didn't find that terribly enticing as the difference between aiming an approach with a wedge or iron accurately is negligible. There's some "tech" power ups that I never looked into. I didn't ever feel like I needed any more help. You'd just be running up the score at that point. Maybe I'm missing some fun, but I just didn't feel enticed there either. Definitely more of a "it's not you, it's me" situation. It's just stuck in some middle ground limbo between a non-golf golf RPG game (without the lengthy in between story stuff) and an almost there 2D golf-golf game (but with the weird obstacles and too easy). That's not an area for me. But it's priced right, works perfectly "on Deck", and is competently made. I can still comfortably recommend it if the obstacle/tech stuff looks interesting to you.

Loving it so far. I'm not that far in, but I do feel the familiarity with Mario Golf, Golf story and several others which bring me some nostalgia. I like their system where they randomize the hole and other features which keeps the game interesting long. I am sure I will be playing this a lot as it is also great to play while watching documentaries and youtube.

It's a pretty good arcade golf game. I've put 5 hours into it, which is enough. I got it on a humble bundle, but if you like fun arcady golf games, I'd say it's worth about $5 USD and 5 hours of your time.
