Motorsport Manager is a favorite game of mine. I feel like Golden Lap took a lot of the things that liked from that game, simplifies the rest, and added a few of their own. One of the things I thought was missing from MM was that crashes was rare and random. In this game, it feels like they make more sense, and even have heavier consequences as your driver can die, or be out for several races. Otherwise the game is very similar, just with a more minimalist approach, as you never see your cars, but just the map view. I ended up blasting through the whole first season in one sitting, and I am sure I'll play through the next ten, to finish off the decade.

The game is easy to get into, just don't make the mistake to read guides about strategy. Don't let others play the game for you; it is really about experimenting with your personal team and trying stuff. It is fascinating for me to play a mediocre ... what's it called ... team. And then try to do relatively good. This is so much fun. The only thing you might need to know is how building parts (important, but limited to one part between races) works. and how ugrading (not as efficient, but sometimes necessary) works. And that it makes sense to repair your cars during a real race (this is for playability reasons - these free! repairs can only be done during races. your car-parts stay repaired after the race). apart from undertanding these technical things, be careful about reading too much in guides. :)

Fun, simple game for F1 fans managing an F1 team.

Set my team up, had them start their race. They qualified. Went to the next race. They both crashed. I got up and made some coffee, thought about making eggs. I don't have any eggs. Disappointed, I walked back to my chair. The race was ongoing, and I had no one competing. Stared at the screen blankly, dozed off out of boredom.
