About
When civilization is decimated by rampant plague, a lucky few emerge from the ashes. Help them settle in a dangerous wilderness reclaimed by nature. Build them a home, shape their lives, and defend them from bandits and beasts in a lawless, realistic post-calamity world. The Dark Age is yours to rebuild.

From three lost travellers to a thriving walled city, build greatness from desolation. Use 3D terrain tools to create the perfect stronghold, from sprawling multi-storey forts to winding underground caverns. Construct, furnish and decorate your chambers, workshops, chapels, libraries and more, using stone, clay, and other gathered materials.

Each settler is a unique character. Consider Grimbold, for example. As a Swineherd, his Animal Handling is second to none. But his personality is Savage, so he’d make a strong Brawler. He likes nice clothes, his religion is dear to him — and he’s hungry. Satisfy Grimbold’s needs, use his talents, and he’ll be a happy settler — key to a happy settlement.

Build impenetrable defenses and set traps against unrelenting waves of raiders. Research and craft medieval tech, arm your settlers and command them in battle. Tailor your strategy to your villager’s skills, and upgrade them through hunting and combat.

Explore your randomly-generated multi-level map and manipulate it to your will. Terraform the earth and water for construction, design, or military strategy. Build up or dig down, go humble or baronial, and use the modding tools to unearth a whole new level of creative freedom.

Played this game for over 200 hours now and absolutely love it. Especially how much the devs care about the game and the wishes of the community. And it's perfectly compatible with Linux. That's a big win!
Very fun colony sim/builder. If you like Banished you will like GME. Devs are active and update/fix the game very often.
I was fooled by the demo. The graphics and music are unpleasant. Everything is square. Trade is pointless and takes too long. War is primitive. Even cats reproduce, but not the villagers. Construction is fun, but with such limitations that you lose the desire to play further.
This game is fantastic. I bought it back in Early Access and loved it right away. Now with version 1.0, it’s much more enjoyable. That said, I want to point out a few bugs that have persisted since the early days. There are visual glitches with battlements over arches (pieces stick out downwards) and some buildings stay invisible even after being built. Mechanically, settlers sometimes freeze or delay their actions by an hour. However, this doesn't change the fact that the game is beautiful, relaxing, and above all, fun. It feels very original for its genre and is definitely worth every penny. With a few more features, a deeper plot, and these bug fixes, it would be truly exceptional. Even so, it’s an excellent product and I highly recommend it.
A nice in depth colony survival game that keeps you in the ´´one more turn´´ loop. There is lots to build, craft and unlock leaving you with ample playing time not having to wait on one thing before being able to do something else. Developers are definetely still very active releasing patches and updating the game multiple times a month. The game does not hold your hand too much there are tooltips available but not enough to cover the full depth of the game. Still fun to figure this out.
good game.
