About

Godslayer Arena is a roguelike fusion of autobattlers and action-rpgs. The core gameplay loop revolves around drafting spells to synergize with each other, and figuring out where they should be placed.
You have no control once combat begins, and your survival will depend on the strength of the build you have drafted.
At its core, Godslayer Arena is a strategy game focusing on complex and deep spell interactions. Each run will test your understanding of the game's core systems.
Break the game. Min max your build. Become overpowered.

Before you begin each battle, you’ll be offered a selection of different spells that you can purchase through the spell shop. You’ll then be offered the choice of being able to refresh your shop for more spells, or to gain experience. The more experience you gain the higher your shop level will be, which in turn offers you a better chance of finder higher tier spells.
Each spell comes with a set of “traits”, which grant powerful effects if you equip enough unique spells of the same trait. Holding three of a kind will upgrade your spells to stronger versions of themselves.
Spells are cast from left to right and interact with each other in various ways, meaning the position of your spells matters a lot. For example, certain spells may fire damaging projectiles, and other support type spells can increase the amount of projectiles fired by those spells if you choose to place them next to each other. There are lots of different spell interactions which include increasing area of effect, granting bonus spellpower, increasing/lowering mana costs, autocasting/combo casting spells, bonuses to basic attacks and more.

Mastery cards further enhance your build by offering powerful spells unique to the class that you play as. These cards are only offered once per run and must be chosen carefully. Items provide unique build defining effects, and gems provided your spells powerful modifications.

Never thought this game would see a new update buy I'm all for it! :D
Edit: Dev is back with huge update, will update after further checking. Would have been a great game, but it seems to be no longer in development. Because of that I can only say: Don't buy another abandoned.
Dev is BACK after almost 10 months with blackout silence. Been eye-ing the game since it first shows in my feed. Game is pretty awesome! Solid 8.5 / 10 Its 100% built experiment of skills and rerolls to get the built that what you want, without actually performing repeated movements (like dashing, etc), this is the game. No story line, no dialogues, etc. Just skills, equips, rerolls and harder next stages. I kinda feel the early access has lots of content and lacking content at the same time though, haha. For first time player, it will feel kinda overwhelming if you see the codex with bazillion of spells category, but with lots of reading, you should get a hang of it pretty quickly. Dev added different game play modes in the future updates plan, but as of now, only 1 mode with increasing difficulty is up. Definitely looking forward to the future updates!
really like this game. feels like hearthstone battlegrounds or the bazaar. super complex and interesting, worth it.
Steam needs to start doing something about these scam games.
soooo much potential. pretty good game rn tooooo.
This is a fun game for sure. Certainly worth the price. The other reviews saying the dev has abandoned are not accurate. The game just had a huge update the day before this review was posted. In addition to the game update, the dev has also posted a feature roadmap for the remaining early access time. Its a single person dev team so updates are going to take longer sometimes. No matter what, whats there is fun, playable as hell, stable and runs smooth on my system.
i've learned my lesson. any amount of AI means the devs dont plan to put in any real effort to support a game.
Very incomplete for a game thats been on steam for nearly a year. Missing tonnes of QOL, things can be very difficult to parse at times if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. It's fun but I wouldn't buy it for less than 50% off
The gameplay loop is not overly complex, but I really enjoy the game. There is good amount of achievements to make you try out different builds and the builds feel different enough that they don't feel stale. The same goes for the skills. And even though there are only two characters there is more than enough contentm especially since the game is still in early access. Also the game is not overly difficult after you figure out how to build defenses. It means that most runs are not stonewalled because of RNG. I can't recommend the game enough.
