B- There are some great and interesting things in this game but there are also some truly frustrating ones. First, the best and most unique, is that is game is Japan. Everything about it is filled with Japanese culture, aesthetics, storytelling. The setting of the game is great and definitely worth a revisit. The gameplay is mostly fine; action intermixed with stealth. In the beginning, you definitely need stealth more and you become quite powerful, which feels good. One of my biggest negatives is how you traverse the city. The first major upgrade to moving through the city is gliding, which works mostly well (ala Batman style mechanics.) The second major upgrade is basically a grappling hook that is very expensive so you can't easily get it early on. However, the implementation of this feature is horrible and most of the time it doesn't work; instead of feeling like an action star or Spiderman, you're running around looking up why the thing never connects. It really broke the flow and rhythm of the action for me. One of the best things in the Batman games is moving in and out of combat mixed with stealth. You can do that in this game WHEN it works. I also found the bow completely useless and not fulfilling at all; I am an archer irl and generally love using a bow in games and this implementation is very sluggish and just doesn't work well. The Japanese voice acting is top notch; the English voice acting is very poor. I used Japanese for nearly most of the game. I also didn't like how most side quests was the same type of high-pitched voices. This became very tedious. Most of the side quests were not very involved and not even fetch quests; most were like vignettes of Japanese folklore, which was neat to a degree. But I wish there was a different way they implemented them as they mostly felt like a facade. The leveling up of your main powers did feel quite good and balanced. I wish it was more obvious early on that Jizo statues equaled your ammo capacity. Overall, it was great to experience Tokyo in a different light and I really liked exploring the city and navigating the world for the creepiness factor (early on a bunch of nope alleyways.) The first time you see the Hyakki Yako Spirit Parade I think is a very very memorable event because it's so creepy and cool looking at the same time and rendered quite well. Also the performance of the game was horrible. I spend a good 1-2 hours trying to optimize the game and gave up at some point.
