Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition

Never played a ghostbuster game but always wanted to when it originally came out. I still have never played it, BUT my cousin bought me this out of the blue, haven't even heard of it, and it's everything I imagine the OG game was and more. Character creator is dope, playing as a ghost and messing with the other players is fun, unlocking new tech/abilities. There is also a story between leveling up in the hub area that's pretty fun. If you can convince a couple of friends to bust ghosts with on a weekend afternoon I highly recommend picking this game up. And if you can't, you should still pick this game up because you can always play solo as a ghost or bust ghost with the fun community still playing.

I've never played a Ghostbuster's game before, but this game was surprising and pleasantly good, It has a bit of a gameplay loop where you kind of just grind to get better equipment and play harder missions but the core gameplay is overall very fun. You chase the ghost around the map with up to 1-4 friends or bots busting a big bad ghost with smaller spirits on the side while also having to manage the civilians panic level, your friends can also play the ghost which is fun, I wish the movement tech was a little bit faster along with the activation of your abilities and gadgets, but I would recommend this game to people who like the core hunt and destroy gameplay of Left 4 Dead 2's Special Infected mode or Evolve, as the concept of the game is largely the same.

going into this, alone as i'm a huge ghostbusters fan i didn't expect to play this for about 3 days straight The online matchmaking takes a little bit and there's hackers playing ghosts pretty often, but if you get friends or play offline it's very very enjoyable

Surprisingly fun/good game

The game definitely isn't dead, but it's only fun for an hour. The mechanics are really neat, the graphics are excellent, and it feels pretty decent to play. Even movement is half-decent, which is kind of surprising for a game like this. But it gets ultra-repetitive very quickly. I'm glad I only spent $4 on it. If you wanna kill an hour or two with friends, it's probably a lot more fun, but it's not so great solo. I wish I could give it a neutral review for that reason.

I can only recommend this game here. It's probably the best game I played in 2025.
