Get-A-Grip Chip is a charming and satisfyingly challenging grappling hook 2D platformer. Master the hook and fling through the increasingly intense floors of Roboco Mfg. Chuck Chip over chainsaws, launch over lasers, and even escape chases with Scan-It Janet.

日本語対応したので購入。Tokyo Game Show 2020のDemoをプレイして、注目していたゲーム。2人のフレンドがこのゲームを気に入って、Steam AwardsのThe Game of the Yearの候補に選んでいたほど。
Genre: -Precision Platformer Fit for me: -My fav genre, so excellent fit Quick Description: -Cute, creative platformer that stands out due to it's limited movement and grappling hook mechanic. While a fun option that will give most players 5+ hrs on their first playthrough, it's limited skill ceiling ultimately makes this title lag behind the best precision platformers out there. What's Good: -Fresh, original take on the precision platformer genre. The limited movement options combined w/ the grappling mechanic make for some really innovative platforming sections. -Very easy to learn, and not too difficult to master. Not nearly as intimidating as games like N++, Celeste, or Super Meat Boy. -Doesn't overstay it's welcome. There are 5 environments w/ 6 different levels filled w/ platforming sections in each. Each level feels fun and builds on the previous level. It was really enjoyable from start to finish, and I never felt like the formula was getting stale. -There are 8 collectible batteries to find per level. During the later stages, the batteries are really well hidden and essentially create a harder mode by attempting to collect them. -Creative HUB that makes you feel like you are inside a factory in between levels Could Use a Few Changes: -Very low skill ceiling. B/c you are so limited in your movement options, there isn't a ton of room for creativity. -Low replayability. This is similar to the low skill ceiling. There are only 30 levels, there is no online level editor. There are a good amount of collectibles to collect and a leaderboard for speedrunning but I don't see this being the type of platformer to sink hundreds of hours into. -Nothing special about the soundtrack. I wasn't the biggest fan. It does fit the game, but I'd like a bit more of an upbeat soundtrack especially during intense chase levels. -The art style works but isn't as interesting or creative as better platformers Thoughts: -I had a good time w/ this one. I love precision platformers but I was in the mood for something a little different than the traditional fast twitch platformer and Get-A-Grip-Chip was a good fit. Although the art style is limited, it is cute and fits well w/ the temp of the game. The grappling hook takes a few levels to adjust to but quickly becomes really fun as you start feeling more comfortable using it. Avoiding the endless environmental hazards and finding all of the secret batteries while grappling hook your way across the levels feels really rewarding. This is a solid choice for less experienced platforming fans as well as those looking for a break from the toughest precision platformers in the genre. Consensus: -Middle of the Road Game (Tier 4 and makes up 25% of my reviews). This is a slam dunk pickup when on sale. It's an easy game to pick up and have fun; it won't make you rage quit like some of the toughest platformers out there. It's not a bad price at $15, but $10 or under is great value. So, if you like cute, creative platformers, give this one a try!
Short but very fun and charming game with a unique, fluid movement system. It never gets *too* difficult either, so players of most skill levels should be able to enjoy it. Good level design throughout, and it really shines in the chase levels at the end of each world and some of the more vertical levels. There are 8 optional bots in each level to collect that usually provide extra challenge, which helps the game not feel quite as short by giving a reason to revisit levels. Great game for anyone who likes to grind out time trials. Only real issue with that is that the ending cutscene seems to play every time you complete the final level, and it's not skippable, which makes grinding out times for it a little irksome. I do think this game has potential for a small but competitive speedrunning scene, which I'd be excited to see form. Some of the achievements, namely the ones that require you to die in various ways, feel like filler, but in general the achievements are fitting and provide a suitable challenge.

Virou um dos meus jogos de plataforma favoritos. Adoro que você não pula, apenas usa o gancho, e o personagem é super fofo. Mas o melhor fica 100% no level design. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJWx81ggv_Y
A fantastic little swing-y platform game about a small robot with a head-rope saving other tiny robots from evil corporation drones and lava. Grapple everything to victory! https://youtu.be/2WvpgCCUCIM
At first I struggled with not being able to jump. And then on top of that, I have to aim my grappling hook and launch?! But within about 10 minutes, I was re-doing levels to try and collect all the lil buddies and land on a respectable spot on the leaderboards (still working on that last one). This game has a fun flow where once you start grappling, you can chain together all your grapples and really move through a level. Speaks a lot to the devs focus on level design. The art is solid and colorful and Chip is easy to focus on even when you're moving pretty fast. The music really shines in this game as its just catchy enough to hum along to but not overbearing. All in all, this is a solid lil game. I just got to the 2nd area and am looking forward to finishing it up soon!
First off, I'm in love with the soundtrack by Stimmerman. This game is a love letter to fundamentals. No fancy upgrades or power ups - just mastering the basics of fun, fast, and beautifully simplistic gameplay. I think it would appeal to both casual and more serious players. Just taking the levels at your own leisure is fun, but if you want to push yourself and hit the leaderboard, you can go for that too. It's not the most sweaty, challenging game - but it feels great to play. The most fun for me is in the "chase" levels, where you're required to hit a near perfect run. Fun game, great soundtrack, good for those with or without runner experience.
If the visuals and quirky music didn't already sell you on this, the gameplay is tight and great for competitive speed running! I've had a blast trying to clinch that number 1 spot. I'm still working my way through it, but the level design is clever and challenging. I played this in beta and I can tell you that even since then the developer has made some solid quality of life changes. Definitely worth a look!
Having beta tested this game prior and playing it now, I've had more than my fair share of experience with it, but I can't speak highly highly enough about it. Its fun, cute, and challenging if you want it to be. I'm not usually one for a platformer, but this is one that isn't Contra punishing and is instead something you can have fun with and chill. Sometimes you don't need to whiteknuckle rage through a game to appreciate it. Maybe you can just appreciate the detail of a jiggling battery bot animation and swing through a level like a Wall-e trying to be spiderman and just love the ♥♥♥♥ out of that.
