Hallo zusammen! Schaut gerne selbst rein. This game is just wonderful, how come it is practically unknown? It should be among the most played native VR games. it's really a mystery, try the Demo, you won't regret it!
As a metroid enjoyer, I really enjoyed this game. It doesn’t have forced backtracking to previous areas, but you’re still rewarded for exploring earlier areas with late game equipment. I do have a few nitpicks: the game looks great for a quest port, but the pc version should have added dynamic shadows and some fluff items in the lockers. Opening a locker and only finding one ammo pickup is a bit to video gamey for me. Maybe put some books, boxes or clothes in there to make the world feel more lived in. It’s probably not fair to compare this to half life alyx, but the rest of the environments seem like there used to be people there, and then you open a locker and it’s either empty or a single pickup. And some shadows would really add to the atmosphere without having to remodel anything. Also, new abilities rarely open doors. Often in metroidvanias your new weapons and abilities are also keys to unlocking more of then environment, but here most guns are purely guns, and door keys are just door keys. Also, as a metroid fan I don’t usually have problems with respawning enemies, but combined with limited ammo it seems discouraging exploration. But like I said, these are nitpicks. I don’t have big complaints about this game. Just adding dynamic lighting would make the game look like a full pc vr game, the world is actually build like people could work and live there if if there wasn’t an infestation. And the game does make you feel increasingly powerful as metriodvanias do, rewarding exploration with making you more powerful faster.
Good game, If you liked red matter 1 and 2 , you will probebly like this one too. Good story and atmosphere. A+++++
A great VR Game, every VR Player should play it. What a hidden Diamond.
I assisted with beta testing this game, and spent maybe 20 hours playing the Q2 version. The graphics really push the hardware in the headset, but even with exceptional graphics in the Quest-installed game, the Steam version is so much nicer. And the game? Great, an 8.75! Gameplay: 8 - you don't clear most rooms - the monsters respawn, a big no-no in my gaming universe Graphics: 9 - amazingly well balanced between great graphics and a playable frame rate. Both were achieved Story: 7 - I've written (unproduced) plays, and short stories, so I feel compelled to say they aimed for greatness and JUST missed the mark. Most people love the story, so I won't nitpick here, but... Acting: 8 - Excellent voice work by the actors, but the director's vision didn't match the gameplay. Would you fight to save the planet from the species of flora and fauna? Yes? Excellent, now be as glib and put out by it as possible, and complain - remember in the face of the destruction of the species, you would rather be at home with hot cocoa and a slanket. Well, enjoy, I did, even in the face of some misses, a nearly-overwhelmingly good experience. -sloggoth
This is a fantastic hidden gem that more people need to know about and play. It has a dead space vibe but without the horror. You're stalking round a stylish retro-future research base, fighting aliens and reading easily digestible text logs and discovering the mystery of what went wrong. The story is delivered by your friend on the radio, text logs and audio logs that feature everything from daily annoyances, their suspicions, who they do and don't like, the food, loneliness. The text logs are worth mentioned because they're a perfect length (not huge novels worth of text) that made me stop and read every one. It makes the base feel like a real place. All of this makes you want to keep digging round the base trying to put together the mystery. The combat is fun and can sometimes be challenging, though I did only play on normal. The gloves and weapon systems are completely unique. Even through my 5 hours in the game I still enjoyed the mechanic of injecting currency, ammo and blueprints into my gloves until the very end. The art style, while somewhat basic (likely due to it being on the quest first) is far from bad. The base has an impressive amount of clutter and details where it never feels sparse. You'll enter certain sections and stop and admire how beautiful it is. The music is also perfect, but I wish it featured more, other than during scripted stings. The voice acting was professional and engaging, though I do think our protagonist accepts the situation she's in a little too easily. Without too much fear in her voice during the beginning. All in all, I loved this game and only wanted more, I struggled to put it down. I really hope we get a Genotype 2 because this is genuinely one of the best VR games I've played in a while.
This is a great metroidvania and, because this is a VR game, the ambience sets the mood perfectly, since the game happens in an abandoned scientific base, most places feels like liminal spaces and I often get chills when I explore them. The story is very intriguing so far and the weapons are very creative and distinctive. The only complaint I have is that they don't have an option for enabling vignettes when you move, so I get motion sickness if I don't take medicine for motion sickness before I play the game.
A really solid game. Good exploration, good combat, good story. If you're a fan of bioshock or similar games then this is for you
