I just finished playing through this remake for the first time. I got all of the endings and all but two achievements. Yeah, these games are still great. I love the setting and premise. Compared to the first remake, there are some small improvements. There are more creations, spells, weapon skills/magic for those going for more of a guardian playstyle and so on. Like most Spiderweb games, there is a lot of reading, and trial and error. But neither of those bother me.
Excellent remake of a classic game, real variety in how you can approach things and high replay value. Very immersive world and engaging plot and quests.
Geneforge 2 - Infestation is the remaster of the original Geneforge 2 and is a great CRPG game. Another great one from indie game dev Spiderweb Software who has been in business since the mid-90s. If you are a fan of CRPGs and can appreciate the retro-style this remaster has, along with turn-based combat, you should definitely give this a go. The best thing about the Geneforge series is how open-ended it is. You can join any of the factions or just remain unaligned. You can even get through the main story with trickery and diplomacy and never actually attack anything. Though the pacifist route is quite hard and challenging. Plus, there are multiple endings. With a great story and open-endedness much like Geneforge 1 - Mutagen, Geneforge 2 - Infestation is a winner.
Good old school game.
remastered version of the classic with a tiny bit of new content for people who played it before
A good game.
A classic game with a great rework. Early availability of creation subspecies has made it really fun to run around most of the game with something like an Eyebeast or Ur-Drakon, which are normally almost impossible to get. This has also enabled some fun strategies. By joining the Awakened early, I can use an Ur-Drakon for 80%+ of the game, in contrast to all previous games where if you did get one, it is at the very, very end. Due to creations leveling as you add points to shaping and their own stats/abilities, it felt very Pokemon-esque to keep the same creation from near-start to finish. Super fun, with room for plenty of self-imposed challenges and roleplay approaches.
The remake of a classic Spiderweb game. Old school, modern gameplay; good convenience feature; nice story; fair price. What more can you ask for?
It is one of the hidden masterpiece, loving the nostalgia to relive it.
Great game, super cool modifications to the original. Looking forward to the next reboot of 3 and 4!
