Geminism is a psychological horror visual novel developed by CRAFTWORK and published by Shiravune that delivers a deeply unsettling narrative centered around identity, obsession, trauma, and emotional instability. Marking the long-awaited return of the studio behind Sayonara wo Oshiete, the game immediately establishes itself as a dark and surreal experience that prioritizes atmosphere and psychological tension over traditional storytelling comfort. Rather than presenting a straightforward mystery or romance, Geminism embraces ambiguity and emotional discomfort, creating a narrative that feels haunting long after it ends. The story unfolds within a shadowy version of Tokyo where two sets of twins become entangled in a disturbing chain of events involving hidden motives, emotional dependency, and violent confrontations. From the opening scenes, the game creates an overwhelming sense of mystery as strange figures move through the city’s nighttime streets while cryptic conversations hint at deeper psychological conflicts beneath the surface. The narrative slowly reveals fragments of truth rather than offering direct explanations, encouraging players to piece together the relationships and motivations driving the story. This fragmented structure becomes one of the game’s greatest strengths because it constantly maintains uncertainty and emotional tension. One of the most impressive qualities of Geminism is its atmosphere. Nearly every scene feels heavy with unease, even during moments where very little is happening on the surface. The city itself appears cold, isolated, and emotionally suffocating, reflecting the unstable emotional states of the characters. Darkness, silence, and surreal imagery are used effectively throughout the story, giving the impression that reality itself may be unstable. The game consistently creates the feeling that something terrible is hiding beneath ordinary interactions, which makes even simple conversations feel psychologically charged. The writing focuses heavily on fractured relationships and emotional dependence. The twins at the center of the story are portrayed as emotionally vulnerable individuals trapped within unhealthy attachments and distorted perceptions of themselves and each other. Themes of duality, mirrored existence, and emotional isolation appear repeatedly throughout the narrative, giving the story a symbolic and almost dreamlike quality. Rather than relying on large-scale action or shocking twists alone, the game builds emotional horror through gradual psychological deterioration and increasingly uncomfortable character interactions. The visual presentation plays a massive role in maintaining the game’s disturbing tone. Character artwork is beautifully detailed and expressive, often emphasizing subtle emotional reactions that reveal fear, instability, or desperation beneath calm expressions. Lighting and composition are used carefully to create scenes that feel both elegant and deeply unsettling at the same time. Certain moments blur the boundary between beauty and horror, reinforcing the game’s themes of fractured identity and emotional collapse. The visual direction constantly supports the narrative rather than simply functioning as decoration. Music and sound design further strengthen the experience. The soundtrack uses ambient melodies, soft piano arrangements, and tense atmospheric tracks to create a lingering sense of sadness and dread throughout the story. Silence is often used strategically during important scenes, allowing emotional tension to build naturally before dramatic moments occur. Voice acting also deserves praise for how effectively it captures the emotional fragility and instability of the cast. Many scenes become significantly more impactful because of the strength of the performances. Despite being mostly linear and focused heavily on reading dialogue, the pacing remains compelling because of how effectively the game handles mystery and emotional escalation. The narrative gradually reveals more disturbing truths about the characters and their circumstances without ever fully abandoning its surreal atmosphere. Instead of delivering clean answers or conventional resolutions, Geminism often leaves room for interpretation, encouraging players to reflect on its symbolism and emotional themes long after completing the story. However, the game’s storytelling approach will not work for everyone. Players looking for a straightforward narrative with clearly explained plot points may become frustrated by the intentionally vague and symbolic writing style. Certain scenes prioritize emotional imagery and atmosphere over direct exposition, which can make parts of the story feel confusing. The game’s oppressive emotional tone also rarely offers relief, making the experience emotionally exhausting at times. Additionally, because the runtime is relatively short, some players may feel that certain supporting characters and world-building concepts deserved more development. Even with these limitations, Geminism succeeds because of how fully committed it is to its psychological horror identity. The game never attempts to soften its emotional intensity or simplify its themes for broader accessibility. Instead, it embraces confusion, discomfort, and emotional vulnerability as central parts of the experience. The result is a visual novel that feels genuinely unique compared to more conventional anime-inspired stories. Geminism ultimately stands as a disturbing yet beautifully crafted psychological horror visual novel that blends surreal storytelling, emotional drama, and symbolic mystery into a memorable experience. Its oppressive atmosphere, emotionally damaged characters, and haunting visual direction create a narrative that lingers in the mind long after the final scene. While its abstract storytelling and emotionally bleak tone may divide audiences, players who appreciate darker and more experimental visual novels will likely find Geminism to be an emotionally powerful and artistically fascinating experience. 演出整体很不错,就cg有点差
剧情有点短,有好多地方都挺迷的,不过美术确实不戳,剧情有点猎奇,喜欢的可以入,不推荐是因为价格我觉得有点贵,如果打折到十几块就可以入
