I finished Gebub’s Adventure mere minutes ago, and my emotions are so mixed. On one hand, I loved the game, and wish it could have gone on far longer. On the other hand, the challenges were real, and I take satisfaction in resolving them….well, I resolved most of them. Gebub’s Adventure has a lot to love. It’s a wonderfully fun game, with just enough tension to keep things really interesting, and made me return more than once after almost giving up. It has just enough frustration built into it to keep things from seeming too simple. And in a universe of gaming where the word “permadeath” is no longer redundant (or a joke), GA gives us “permaLIFE”. There is no death, no matter how far the little guy(?) falls, or how long he(?) remains underwater, how much acid he swims through, or how far he’s flung through the air or how many blocks crush him. Even being swallowed, and finding his way through the digestive tract of some big…thing only slows him slightly. But all these journeys are essential to solving all the puzzles necessary for completion of the adventure, and finding all the objects and all the colored balls, no matter how well hidden (but always with a subtle hint.) The controls of Gebub’s Adventure couldn’t be much more simple. Arrow keys for movement and jumps (or WASD), “M” for map and inventory, and “X” to exit. There ya go! GA apparently can be completed in an hour, but I spent five (so far. But I did manage to find EVERY colored ball, and some were quite well hidden in a wide (.i.e.–wonderful!) variety of puzzle environments.) Admittedly, I have some physical difficulties that made some of the jumping challenges a bit more challenging that the average player might find them, but not overwhelmingly so. Every time it seemed Gebub’s world had surely reached its limit, suddenly there was an icy mountaintop, or an incredibly beautiful moonlight sailboat ride. And a huge part of the game is spent underground, to appeal to the most jaded dungeon dwellers. (And I’ll always wonder about the lava fisherman….) The music was truly a wonder all by itself. I can’t imagine how it could have been any more special, yet with enough variety to never begin to be tedious. If I had to identify a flaw in Gebub's Adventure, it would be the lack of a simple method of recording screenshots to share the beauty of this special game. If asked, I can’t imagine a game that would have appealed to the widest possible range of gamers as well as GA does, from (possibly) pre-teens to this 58-year old geezer who has been gaming over thirty years. This would be a great game to play with children (or parents), or alone. All in all, a very high recommendation if you need a break from a “forever” game, or today's dose of zombies, and at a reasonable price. Thank you (players, for reading. DEVS, for your wonderful creation.) (4M/L)

If you're a fan of hard platformers featuring challenging bosses and dark themes... wait, wrong game. Gebub's Adventure is a very relaxing adventure game that features a beautiful handcrafted world and an awesome classical soundtrack.
Gebub's adventure is a very calming fun little platformer. I originally picked up this game as a joke with it's silly name, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the adventure. It's very simple, and once you beat it there's little left. While it lasts Gebub's Adventure is a pleasure to play.
Oh Gebub. What a wonderful little game. Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised, I backed this kickstarter not knowing what to expect, but wanting to support the little guy. This game turned out great! - Beautiful Music - Great game design - Exciting small details everywhere - Simple art style allows game design to be the focus - No death or enemies allows for peaceful, but still fun gameplay Overall, for $5 I would definitely recommend this little game if you'd like a peaceful couple of hours in an enchanting little world. I would say that although the art works with the game, I would love to see the style perhaps being pushed further in the future. With everything else working so well, there is definitely a little room for improvement with the art. Keeping the same look and feel of course.
Oh my goodness, this has got to be one of the best Steam games ever. Let me start by saying this is not just a game that will capture the curiosity of a child, it is an amazing "boredom-buster" for adults as well. Today I was hunting for a game that would keep my mind busy and entertained, while my best friend was having a medical procedure done in the hospital. I was extremely nervous and scared, as soon as I started this game up; I was at peace in a heaven-like, dream-like wonderland. The music is absolutely amazing! First thing that came to my mind was "wow this game looks like a dream!" and it is! There is simply no downside to this game, you CAN NOT die! Despite some creatures that may seem a little scary and might make frightening noises, you will soon find that you must be somehow dreaming as nothing is really lethal and scary. There are dozens of items that need hunting for you to move on, so you will soon find yourself going on a treasure hunt. You never know what you might find! I dunno about other people, but this game is amazing to me. I recorded myself playing the game and sent the video to my friend in the hospital, she absolutely enjoyed it! Thank you, this is beautiful!
Nice wee game. A good few moments in the game made me smile, sometimes because of something unexpected but often because of tiny subtle touches with the simple spritework; a crab waving, a squirrel popping out of a nut, others I want you to find for yourself. The music is rousing and has hints of Danny Elfman which really creates quite a jaunty atmosphere. There's nothing about this game which is taxing and there's lots of secrets to find which I'm glad to say aren't totally obtuse. I did support this game on Kickstarter so I could be more invested in it than I otherwise might. Still liked it a lot.
A very relaxing, peaceful and explorative little game. I really enjoyed it! Full of neat little details and touches, with a great soundtrack too. Highly recommended for those who like a bit of peaceful escapism and exploration!
I funded this game on kickstarter and the game turned out to be way better than I thought it would. Adorable and phenomenal adventure platformer full of cute little creatures and even contains a small reference to another game. The music and artstyle of the game itself is very relaxing and almost everything around you is so peaceful. Join Gebub on his long and peaceful adventure as he meets new friends; explores through stunning landmarks, dark caves, and unknown areas; as he embarks through his long and adventurous journey!
This is going to be an unusual review. I bought this game expecting not to like it. I bought it because, from the screenshots, it looked extremely similar to Seiklus, one of my favorite freeware homebrew adventures. I've put in the time to complete it (about three hours). How do I feel about it now? Gebub's Adventure is far too close to call it merely "inspired by" or simply an homage, but it is distinct enough not to be a knockoff or remake. It's more like a reboot: knowingly and consciously derived from and incorporating elements of the original, but giving it a new spin. You start off in a grassy field populated with harmless widlife and oversized, climbable plants. It's immediately clear that your mission is to find all of the green orbs. You travel to other realms with other colors of orbs - a gray cavern populated by ghosts; a brown underground lit with lava; an undersea area populated by fish; the inside of a tree; a desolate, snowly landscape; a castle; and the inside of a creature. The realms are interconnected both by walking and by taking secret passages. Most orbs are easy to find, but there is a secret collection in hidden rooms. You eventually capture enough to escape through a portal, but if you've tried hard and found all of the orbs, you get sent to a special place with some more challenging jumps. All of that is *identical* between Seiklus and Gebub's Adventure. I mean, down to the letter. And it doesn't stop there: there's an elevator through lava that takes you to another realm; there's an outdoor scene with dramatic rain and lightning; there's a puzzle involving some birds... and some of the assets, like the beanstalks and the black hole, were so nearly identical that they initially looked like copied assets. (On closer inspection, it seems that everything is new.) So... what's new about Gebub's Adventure? All of the graphics and muscial assets. A few additions, like the flying / falling realm. Some neat new scenes, like penguins and mushrooms and falling through a vat of chemicals only to be rescued by - well, I won't spoil it. I ended up enjoying Gebub's Adventure more than I anticipated. It's neither the most clever game nor the most original, but it has heart. If only the author had thought to credit Seiklus (an offhanded shout-out to Cly5m doesn't count), this might be an easy recommendation. I"ll say: Definitely play Seiklus instead, and then buy this game if you want some more.
