The Gears of War 1 remake "Ultimate Edition" for Steam essentially. Unlike the Ultimate Edition, its performance has been fixed and drop and stutter issues are now gone. Most of this however incurs with the upscaling technology, but you will get a solid FPS when playing the game Graphically enhanced, but unfortunately ditches a lot of the grim dark setting that was established with the originals this is essentially just Gears 1 but graphically enhanced, and new cutscenes. Nothing has really changed Reloaded could have been a good remake of Ultimate if they made included some of the features that was with the later games, like the body shield mechanic or Horde mode. Is this one way to experience Gears 1? • Yes, and probably the most easiest way Are there better ways to Experience Gears 1? • Yes, by playing the original version or getting a new mod of the game instead Its not really the version you should seek to play Multiplayer on, its more of a version where you'd seek to play the singleplayer It is a copy paste in a way, but at the time of speaking this is the only version of Gears you can play, outside of the coming E Day or Gears 5. Note that i mentioned only the Singleplayer, as multiplayer in any Gears of war game is kind of notoriously sweety and one sided. If you enjoy multiplayer games where you will only use 1 weapon in most of the times, then maybe this is something for you. //// Personal notes: I do not think Gears 1 really stands out that much outside of the other games, i personally like Gears 2 more for its story the game established the series, but it didn't really establish any character development as much as they did in the second game The Berserker level kinda contributed to that, even if it only appears in 1 level of the game, i remember when i was young and played it with my friends, that was kinda the most disliked level we played, and I'm glad it never appeared again in the later gears games. I think the run, gun and hide mechanic is self inducing enough to have to branch out for small boss battles //// In overall, should you get this version off the game? If you played the OG GOW you know what you are getting here this is just a slightly upgraded graphics version of the 360 version with some bonus missions that the 360 never got but the OG PC version did. unfortunately thats about all it is. the AI is atrocious i dont know how many times I've seen locust just standing there letting me shoot them or they do soem stupid bum rush. Your AI team mates are just as dumb and pretty much worthless and never listen to commands they should have updated this in fact it may even be worse then the OG gears. If you are unfamiliar with this series its a fun cover based shooter thats made for guys. I love the dialogue and the characters are great. The story however not so much. you are pretty much dropped in the middle of a story and left on a cliff hanger at the end and sadly they never really did a good job telling the story it was riddled with plot holes even through the next 2 games. The online for the time which is now almost 20 years ago was the big draw of the game i played it online for almost 2 years so doing it again n the PC version well... I'm over it. didnt try it so not sure how well it works on PC or if the community is even active for it. Hopefully we get Gears 2 and 3 on Steam as well as those are really the only ones worth playing. forget 4 and 5 they are awful. and Gears E day looks justa as trash if not worse then those ones. MS only makes pure disgusting slop now so im uninterested in any future Gears games they may make. Hopefully GOW 2 and 3 make it to steam before the Xbox division goes out of business which looks inevitable as its a company of pure buffoons working there. This is worth picking up just get it on sale.
A classic for a reason, I feel like the visuals are a tad better in the original. Modern remakes have a tendency of washing out the color scheme. I remember the original having very exaggerated shadows that felt very unique. Also running is a bit janky, you clip onto a lot of stuff that just isn't there. Overall I'd give it like a 3.9 stars out of 5. Not bad at all
Old School Gears
It's like putting on an old pair of shoes. I bought an Xbox 360 back in the day, just to play this game. Holds a special place in my heart.

Gears of War: Reloaded isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, and it doesn't need to. It's a reminder of why so many of us fell in love with Xbox 360-era gaming in the first place. For longtime fans, it's pure nostalgia done right. For newcomers, it's a chance to experience one of gaming's most influential shooters and see just how far ahead of its time it really was.
