Garden of the Sea (VR)

Garden of the Sea is one of the cutest VR games I've played. The world is charming, relaxing, and full of cozy little activities that made it hard to put down. I loved spending time in it, even though VR usually gives me really bad motion sickness. The fact that I kept playing despite feeling motion sick is probably the biggest compliment I can give this game. If you're looking for a cozy VR experience, this one is absolutely worth checking out.

The quest line could do with a little more direction, but you'll eventually figure it out by exploring and listening for the jingle sound. Its a fun game but i wish there was just a little more to it. The game hasn't been updated in a while and i think the developers don't plan to update.

What can I say, this is designed for kids but the learning is quite steep. Also, the mechanics are thrown in your face right at the start of island 2 and thus very confusing for my 7 year old. That being said, this game keeps her coming back for more, to feed the land based sea cow and generally roam around picking up stuff. Do mind though, using the boat gives me vertigo.

Holds up well in 2025. You can tell a ton of love was put into this game. The cute, subtle animations, the sounds, and the way the music shifts perfectly in tune with changes in the environment all make it a really nice experience. I've been playing a fair few VR games, but this one actually has me immersed the most. And its a relaxing game to play before bed over your more high-movement, high-action shooters and slashers. Has a similar vibe as Stardew Valley or My Time at Portia. Maybe sprinkle a little Breath of the Wild and Ponyo inspiration as well. A hidden gem. Hoping for a second version with more VR interactions, better lighting/graphics, and maybe even multiplayer (?) some day!

You can pet and feed the animals; they even do a happy dance afterward! Booted this up just to test my VR setup on my new computer. Started having fun, so I figured I'd play for an hour or two. Next time I looked at the clock it was 1 am. Initially I thought this was just a small tech demo or something, but it's a full game. Highly recommend it!

I must be really stupid, or there are mechanics from some other particular game that is an unspoken prerequisite to this game, because I managed to give the creature the beets it wanted and get a block of "water" that I somehow managed to put into my inventory... and that's it. Isn't the tutorial supposed to show you how to play the game?

after having this game on my wishlist for idk how long, a friend gifted it to me for christmas :) i heavily enjoyed all 6 hours straight that i played and i think i will be playing more just to keep decorating my island and enjoying the digital scenery i think my only problem with the game is that there isnt more! i wish there had been more creatures to befriend and more homes for them and more cool islands to visit. ah, and that fishing actually had a tutorial. i still havent figured that out yet. definitely get this game if you want a really chill n cute vr farming experience!
