Galaxy Highways

The controls take some getting used to and the campaign is short, but it's a rather fun game once you get the hang of it.

Blast aliens, dodge lights, and ignore the story. This twin stick arcade style space shooter has tight controls and satisfying gameplay, which helps offset the overall lack of variety for both weapons and encounters. Progress through the story and purchase upgrades to both your base and two classes of playable starship. Special capital ship missions cap the ends of each story chapter. Development is ongoing at the time of this review.

Fun little bullet hell game that doesn't overstay its welcome. Takes about 5h to beat on Normal. Made by 2 guys.

Easy to grab twin-stick shooter with great gameplay, mechanics and progression. A nobrainer for this amount of money.

EDIT: Beat the game on Normal! And died a lot, ha ha [strike]In the middle of Chapter 2, dying a lot[/strike], but that's part of the fun! Really well done, lots of enemy and weapon variety, aesthetics and sound are pretty nice, as well. Upgrade system is inconsistent though. Each upgrade increases a number of stats, one of which reduces the cooldown of that weapon by 0.1 seconds (zero point one). So, even after five upgrades, which is significant, the cooldown is reduced by a mere half second (ex. base is 11 seconds, five upgrades later, it's 10.5 seconds), while the other stats changes can be easily felt right away. Is this a bug? Was this meant to be one whole second per upgrade? Anyway, that's probably my biggest criticism of the game, which is fairly minor. Not much replay value, aside from doing it all again on a higher difficulty, so no roguelite elements (yet?). But if you want something that respects your time, this is it. :) As of the time of writing, the game is at 1.0 and the devs said they are planning to add more. Go buy it!

A fantastic 2D pixel-art shooter that nails the retro feel! The vibrant visuals, smooth controls, and intense space battles keep me coming back. The soundtrack slaps, and the enemy variety keeps things fresh. Perfect for quick sessions or long gaming marathons. If you love classic arcade shooters with a modern polish, don’t miss this gem

Chap and okay space shooter. Very easy, except end boss (that thing is obnoxious). Very short. Nice graphics, okay gampelay. Good to waste 5 hours or so, but nothing more

Fantastic game! The developers on Discord are passionate about this game. It plays like a roguelite with upgrades, research, and meta-progression, and it’s quite challenging but not in any cheap way. You’ll know what you did wrong and what you’ll need to upgrade, swap, or approach in the next round. The enemies are good at attacking and defending. I’m quite picky about games that I purchase, and this is the one I’ve been playing the most recently. Anyone who likes shooters, space shooters, roguelites, or developers that care about their game should add this to their collection. I’m running it on a MacBook M2 Air and it plays perfectly with a keyboard and mouse. Be sure to join their Discord to provide them feedback or suggestions.
