Peak game
Gaelic Football Laochra is the remaster of Gaelic Football PS2 on the console but on PC, it is by far the world greatest Irish football video game of all time, the aim of the game is to win the Sam Maguire as well as National Football League and Provisionals Cup of Leinster, Ulster, Munster and Connaught through 10 season in career mode with your 4 provisional GAA football team suchas Leinster, Ulster, Munster and Connaught, also even more fun, you can do tournament mode for one season, you can do create a team and pratices mode for your likeing, i give it 10/10 for recommadation for you all to enjoy.
While im glad that theres a new Gaelic football game on the market after 20 years, i cant deny the state that this game is released in. The game is extremely rough and it is definitely not worth the price point they’re selling it for. There are some fun moments in the game dont get me wrong, but the graphics, stutters, gpu throttling and other issues with the game makes it hard for me to recommend it to anyone, if you have the quid to dump on this game sure, go for it, but I personally would wait for a sale or for it to be patched. For the game to be pushed back several times over the past year and a half and this is what we got? It’s kinda disappointing i cant lie.
the game can be finiky at times especially the tackling and passing often my player would run by the ball when it rolls towards him, HUD also disappears some times after a score and when i was playing on leitrims pitch odd shadows would apear across the pitch also my keeper being at oppostions goals when i make a sub, i think the game has good potential and people are being too harsh on it the games actually pretty impresive from a small indie company whos never released a game before, i think the 35 is a bit mad but i see why they need to bring in money to re invest into the game which is fair enough overall i think its a good investment and the game will improve allot in the future and lads stop going on about the graphics there not EA sports ffs what ya expect UPDATE: game is unplayable due to crashing after every game i play in career
The career mode is a lot more in depth than I was thinking it would be. Would be amazing if more club levels got added at some point too. Overall really fun so far.
I've played for a few hours now and there's definitely potential here. Yes it is janky and there are some visual glitches. I've found the Senior difficulty to be my preference right now. Higher difficulties and the AI becomes impossible almost unfair. Could be a skill issue though. However I can't recommend the game right now purely because after trying 3 times the game crashes after my first Career match. Once I hit 'End Match' the game crashes. This is hugely disappointing as Career was the mode I was most excited to play and this bug is making it unplayable. I haven't tested Tournament mode yet. I've also had an issue where pausing mid game leaves the 'Resume Match' button unselectable. Game settings and other options work fine but Resume Match just won't select. I have to choose 'Restart Match' instead. A few patches to solve bugs like these and ironing out some of the gameplay such as tackling etc and it could be a pretty solid football experience. Also a tutorial would definitely be appreciated. Fair play to the devs it's not a bad start as I'm not expecting FC26 levels here but some of the technical issues and bugs need to fixed before I can recommend.
I want to be charitable to this game, because it's a type of game I'd love to see more of and it's by a small Irish studio, but there's a lot wrong with it in it's current state. On the positive sides: Career Mode and the character/team creators are comprehensive and well designed. There's some good music by Irish artists in the menus. When you're on the field and have the ball the attacking play is fun. But that's about the only time it's fun. To pick a top 3 that need fixing: - Trying to defend and get the ball back is as scrappy as a primary school game, it's just a hit and miss game of mashing tackle and hoping you don't get a foul for it which feels like it has no skill involved. This also leads to a common glitch where it gives you a foul for travelling because you're surrounded by opposing players trying to block you and you can't bounce or solo even when you have those set to auto. - An option to have lock on passes and hand passes to the nearest free player would help attacking feel faster and more fluid, currently it feels slow and with a big element of luck when you hoof the ball upfield. - An aiming arrow for set pieces would help, trying to pass to another player almost never works for me and I give the ball away more often than not without this. Overall if this were priced 10 - 20 I would give it a thumbs up as a good game to have and pop on when friends are over or family visiting, in which case the technical problems could be forgettable. But at €35 it needs to be a lot better than this.
So After following this game, bought it day of release haven't had much time to play but honestly for a small indie dev's first game. Fair play honestly You have got Antrim down to a T as their terrible but got to play as my home county. Considering the price of games these days I say the price is Fair, its unfortunate couldn't get the GAA to back the game would have been great to seen Croke in it ( would have also been funny to play in Casement park considering the state of it) Still a bit buggy which happens. For instance my GK kept running back and forth in the opponents net when they where taking goal kicks no idea why though. Skill issue on my part but 3 times my goalie did an Own goal although very funny it happened. The difficulty levels are brutal so be warned. Otherwise I hope to see a lot of updates on the game as I am fairly enjoying it and glad to see a small team taking on the challenge of bringing the GAA to gaming again (Still hoping for a hurley game)
Clunky around the egdes, but if you give it time, the core of the game is there. I hope the devs can push out some quality of life features soon though. Patches have been coming so it's looking good for the future of this game.
