Nooooo, this adventure is as bad as everyone says. Unsolvable puzzles without real connection to the story (how to obtain the cat hair was not the worst!) and an awful user interface make this game borderline unplayable. I still finished it in over 20 hours, using a walkthrough frequently and wondering how someone could design such an atrocity. A large part of the game consists of reading puzzles and then placing and connecting points on a map... no idea how anyone could guess this, although one of my friends actually told me he liked that part. There are certainly good aspects as well, like the professional speech and the well-written dialogues. Even the cutscenes are nice, and the game is quite long as well. I enjoyed the last part, when you were finally down in the underground temple with its fiendish deathtraps. Sierra certainly did invest money in the production. The 3D visuals look awful today, but they were state of the art for 1996 and somehow gave me a fuzzy feeling remembering my younger days (or other, better games from that time). [u][b] Conclusion:[/b][/u] One of the point and click adventures that nearly managed to kill the whole point and click adventure genre. Recommended only for game historians!

I'm not sure why everyone is saying this game is broken. I had the same issues but it took me three minutes to fix. 9/2024 on Windows 11 1) Download PowerIso or some other virtual drive 2)Mount to the drive. Leave it empty. 3)Voila, insert disk 1 message gone For graphics, go into the in game settings. turn off incremental rendering. Graphics issues fixed. Don't bother with compatibility mode. Haven't come across any issues yet.

This is a recommendation but a tough one. Keep the following negatives in mind: 1. The game is difficult to get working on modern systems but it is possible by following several guides online and using dgvoodoo2. This is not the easiest thing in the world to do. 2. The game has some of the most difficult puzzles in adventure game history. I'd only play this with a full walkthrough from start to finish to reduce time wasted. 3. The user interface is quite awful but you do get used to it. Its kind of unique and eventually you can even start to appreciate it as it allows you to do things that no other game has done before or since. 4. The graphics are horribly dated compared to the first two games in the series. Its got that early 3D look that has aged like goat milk. Despite these big problems, I felt compelled to complete this game as I am a big fan of the Gabriel Knight series. It took me multiple attempts and a lot of configuration changes to get into this game but when I finally got it working and gave it a real chance, it was GREAT. Some of the positives: 1. This game has a fantastic story. Despite all of the horrible problems, the story is just as strong as the previous two games. 2. Although this game has some of the worst puzzles in adventure game history, it also has some of the best. 3. The voice acting is great. Tim Curry is a bit too over the top this time round but it added to the charm. 4. As previously mentioned the unique user interface allows for some great interactions with the environment that you have never seen before and will never see again. 5. The game has a lot of great humour throughout.

This game should not be sold on Steam in its current state. You will most likely not be able to get it running on modern hardware. Such a damn shame.

I had to install freeware on my computer to get the game working; and then it gave me motion sickness.

Don't bother buying this one. It's not functional on modern machines.

O jogo está tão abandonado que é mais fácil montar uma máquina virtual pra jogar. Quer dizer, dá pra jogar até no Steam Deck depois de alguns fixes, mas saiba que isso é inevitável na versão Steam, ou você compra a versão da GOG.

This game, this story, simply amazing, hermetism, freemasons , priory of sion, conspiracies, Jensen is seriously involved with esoterism, occultism etc. Don't let the graphics fool you or some minor problems that can easily be fixed, this is a great story that is told. I really enjoyed this game more than GK1 and GK2.

mount a virtual cd before playing

I remember when I bought this game in its own CD case all wrapped up ready to play. I bought it from Walmart! This was back in the day when you can only buy PC games at the store, instead of online, when modem was a thing and AOL existed. This is a very old game, but I still love it to this very day! I remember running Tim Curry's line "Is anyone there? I would like to buy a bike!" over and over! Why? Because I thought it was hilarious for some reason. You'll need to save this game consistently in order to beat it. Luckily, you can save it any time during the game. It doesn't have auto-save, so you'll have to save it yourself. Even though this game was made in 1999, it has remained one of my favorite games I've ever played. Gabriel Knight is the funniest person I've ever known! I really like his girlfriend too, or colleague. I've always been fascinated with vampires and I've read all the Anne Rice books. This is a very nice addition to the history and the realm of vampires! If you like vampires or Dracula, you'll love playing this game. It does have a bug, but you can download the fix easily. I think it's definitely worth playing.
