About
Slip into the Standard Issue Biosuit as Myo Hyori, a gifted Korean teenage girl who must face the perils of the future. Survive many hazards, explore a seemingly endless metropolis and beyond as the world around you implodes and history marches towards its inevitable conclusion.
This is a cyberpunk inspired first person shooter with light environmental puzzles and a long, detailed singleplayer campaign focused on story and world building. G-String aims for an old school approach where there is minimal hand holding and your biosuit automatically keeps track of your health stats, ammunition count and armor condition.
You need supplies to heal yourself, replenish your ammo/armor but your suit automatically takes care of your lights, sprinting and breathing (open air and underwater). Your on-board neuro-enhancers, air filters and light sources automatically recharge using movement and/or sunlight.
Courtesy of Bortz Bioengineering your biosuit is very resilient but you do have to be careful: prolonged exposure to toxins will lead to fatal failure! You need to watch out for all sorts of environmental hazards, especially later on when the pace picks up considerably.
Your telekinetic/pyrokinetic abilities will be available from the start and throughout most of the game, they should be enough to make progress until there are more means of input available. Worthy to note that initially your night-vision will be disabled as your biosuit was damaged presumably in earlier lab experiments.
Despite the title Myo never comes across any explicit mature situations. If she wants she can also find ways around some of the fights as well. The game responds to her behavior: the less aggressive she is the less enemies she is likely to encounter down the line.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
As long time fans know G-String took well over a decade to complete because it was a solo project for the most part; all assets and the lore had to be developed from scratch.
My sincere hope is that this does not impact the game's quality, scope and scale negatively. From the slums of Greater Chinatown to Low Orbit Earth and Beyond your adventure will take you through several distinct locations. No important story elements were cut and the game was not divided into episodes- yet another reason why development took long.
The finished product is not perfect nor will it ever be perfect however it has reached a stage when it's hopefully good enough for release considering the time and resources available to me at the moment.
The goal with the initial release is just to put out a game that can be played form start to finish with no issues. There are no achievements and translations available yet. Those will probably be included in later updates if there is interest in the title. Of course if I had missed anything and there are any urgent problems they will be fixed in an early update as quickly as possible.
The game's retro glitch art infused aesthetic draws heavily upon science fiction films released between the late 70s and early to mid 90s. Exceptions to this rule might include 1969's Space Odyssey or The Matrix. The world's design is very low key and as realistic as possible, everything was put together with feasibility and mass production in mind. The HUD and hints are also kept to a minimum.
When work started on this project I was going through difficult times and G-String reflected this by touching on some troubling issues. Over the years even elements of horror and surrealism have found their way into the mix. Everything changes though and this work should not be viewed as mouth piece for anyone's views or beliefs. Everyone is encouraged to make up their own minds about the concepts they are presented with.
The game is 10 to 15 hours long, combat is spaced out and can be harsh. Sometimes fights with humans can be avoided and multiple paths are available. There are a few cut-scenes in G-String but they are brief and depict things that would otherwise be impossible to show from the player's point of view.
The different post-processing FX settings such as "Film Noir", "70mm" or "Sin City" can give the game a radically different feel so try to experiment to see what fits your gameplay style the most.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS if you choose to view the "quick reference" PDF. Beauty Secrets will be updated after the release of the Ultimate Edition.

Just not all that great. The environments feel samey and the music is good but I feel like the gameplay itself really falls short and it's not all that enjoyable. The level design is purposefully confusing and you never feel like you know where to go, you always have to hunt around looking for an exit for every area and it makes the momentum constantly go up and down in a way that makes me as a player feel uncomfortable and confused. The weapons are all the same from Half Life 2 and they're even ACQUIRED in the same order. In fact, the first portion of the game is almost a shot-for-shot, bar-for-bar, beat-for-beat remake of Half Life 2. You escape the clutches of the bad guys, you roam through some Apartments, you swim through toxic Canals. You go through a scary, Zombie-Robot infested area full of death. You get the Pistol, then the SMG, then the Revolver. It's just Half Life 2 but different. The story goes nowhere in the first quarter of the game and you're thrown into a world without much context of what's going on and who you are. Nothing connects you to Myo's story and you get all these weird flashbacks that don't amount of anything. I get that there's a deeper meaning to it all and it's supposed to be something you unravel throughout the course of the game but nothing CONNECTS me to G-String's story. It just feels confusing and stereotypical and not very interesting. The hypersexuality of humanity goes nowhere and it all feels kinda cheap and raunchy, like the stuff with the Sexbots and Reproduction being heavily enforced, they're cool ideas. But it goes nowhere. It doesn't amount to anything, and there's so many cool elements of the world that're teased but never really followed through with and it all feels like a confusing, half-baked mess. I hate to be so negative but I really did try to give G-String a fair shake, I gave it 4 hours, I got through the annoying parts, but it didn't really click with me.
This was quite a piece of work. I did enjoy playing through this and seeing the unique weapons, enemies and storyline. However I do recommend taking a good break from this every now and then as it is long and (to be honest) is hitting close to home in how this world is going. (hopefully those vending machines NEVER even become a thing.) I also got lost at certain points which didn't really help but overall a really good game. 9/10 would see the future again.
Cant believe this was made by one person. 10/10. Highly recommend it.
Feels like a fresh way to play HL2 after many years. Art Direction is very good.
I think this game looks aboustely stunning, it's just the combat that suffers, it's extremely punishing and kinda unfair which makes sense for odds being stacked against you but there one semi softlock i had to god mode for which was the bank? I think? Sometimes levels are a bit winding and confusing but the game rewards you for exploration so every little time you wonder off the beaten path you may find some suit or health. My biggest problem it just feels like i'm playing stalker on MASTER. The guns feel pretty weak but from the shotgun or revolver for oblivious reasons. My favorite part so far is the nuke, this game running on the source engine made me stunned at it and made me actually freeze and just stare while it gave me damage.
Quite the ride, story-wise. It's a delightful cyberpunk dystopia, where the economy as a whole is doing nothing but collapsing. It plays a lot like Half-Life 2, except with more focus on gunplay, combat, and first-person platforming. Map design is artful, but sometimes hard to navigate, the weaker moments were either with the first-person platforming, or times where I ended up looking for a walkthrough to figure out where I had to go next. The game might benefit from a waypoint system, or the infamous and dreaded yellow paint. The story is.. Something? Frankly, I didn't have a good grasp of what the overarching narrative was, but I did understand the moment-to-moment adventures of Myo Hyori and her psychic powers. Trying to figure out what was going on did introduce me to the concept of a Body Without Organs, sometimes abbreviated as BwO, and has potentially the most difficult (for a layman) to understand wikipedia article. I think there's really something here with the story, I just don't have the knowledge to *get it* get it. Game got finicky when I alt-tabbed to another window, but I think that's a screen resolution thing. It sorted itself out, and wasn't much trouble. Performance wise, it ran pretty smooth. Graphics are a little dated, but really not bad, especially once you tweak the settings in the FX menu to your liking. I hear there's supposed to be a graphical remaster happening, but I'm not sure what channels to follow the dev through, so I couldn't confirm it myself.
wait...who's G-String?
Caused me to lose an organ during an uninterrupted flow of desire from by body through my solar anus. I love when they stop moving.
Dark & Gritty. Just the way i like it.
Extremely atmospheric and rich in details. Perharps the best cyberpunk ambiented game ever made. 10/10
