I really wanted to like this game but I don't know why but everytime I close the game and start it again all my progress is deleted and I have to start from the very beginning again, It sucks because the gameplay is kinda fun but I ain't going to replay everything again just to get back to where I was last time.
Shockingly Bad
When I heard there was a new game being made by old LEGO game developers featuring tons of franchises I was intrigued, even if it was in the Funko style. As a fan of licensed games and especially crossover, and LEGO games I was willing to deal with the generic and awful Funko character designs. Unfortunately though, the gameplay is about as awful as it can get, the level design is horrendous and frustrating, and the game is a technical disaster, making this one of the worst games I've played in a long time.
Presentation
The game looks fine for a Funko themed gamed. The environments are good enough and the character designs look like real Funkos. Unfortunately because of how lifeless and soulless the figures look, the characters all look and feel like the most generic crap ever. Cutscenes have no voice lines and the figures just can't convey enough emotion to make them fun. The game also stutters constantly even on the lowest settings, and it was not uncommon for visual bugs and glitches to occur. There are real music tracks from the licenses though so that's a plus.
Gameplay
Funko Fusion is a third person shooter action game with light puzzles, which unfortunately are not very fun. The shooting is bland and boring, and the only way the game can be challenging at all is by bombarding you with the same enemies over and over and over again. It gets super repetitive and boring. The boss fights are all the same exact thing copy and pasted over and over again. In fact, that's basically the level design as well. If a level wants you to do a small puzzle to say rescue a dog. The entire level will be that same exact thing but spready out over a level that's way too big, and make you do it 7 times. All the fun characters and licenses are trapped behind awful puzzles that require you to come back with other characters once you've beaten the level once. Unfortunately the gameplay and level design is so bad that I did not do this a single time because I had no desire to replay anything in this crap game. I found a Chucky funko in one level and thought "cool, I can unlock Chucky" only to realize I have to do the same 10 minute fight sequence in like 8 other levels. No thank you. The levels do an awful job of guiding you along, so you're spent running around figuring out where to go, and half the time you'll find out you don't know where to go because something that was supposed to open or unlock just didn't because the game is a broken pile of crap.
Technical Issues
Perhaps the worst part of the game, and something that is inexcusable to still be present 2 years after release is how buggy the game is. If you die, game freezes. Loading into a new area, game freezes. Too many enemies on the screen, game freezes. Simply start the game and enter a level, game freezes. This is on top of constant stuttering and frame drops, enemies just disappearing or freezing themselves, items not being able to be interacted with, and much more. There's also no option to load from a checkpoint so if that item you need to progress decided it didn't want to be picked up and you're at the end of a 25 minute level guess what, you have to leave the area and start from the beginning. I encountered bosses not being able to take damage, puzzle elements just straight up not working, and countless more game breaking bugs and glitches that ruined an already bad game.
Conclusion
Overall, Funko Fusion fails in absolutely every aspect. It takes iconic franchises and does absolutely nothing interesting with them. The gameplay is awful and buggy. Levels are repetitive and poorly designed, and the game is borderline unplayable at times. I bought this game for $3 and even at that price I feel ripped off and the only reason I finished the entire game was so I could write a truly honest review. I should have wait as well for this huge discount in order to get this nonsense they call a "game" Developers instead of fixing it, they made it worse. And now will be REMOVED from Steam and also the big discount is because they don`t care anymore ! I know that this game was kinda bad, but try FIX IT not DESTROY IT even more like 99% of the Developers do nowadays. And judging by the recent reviews, here is ANOTHER ONE before you leave Steam !! STOP. KILLING. GAMES.
I only have 19 minutes in this game, and I'm already seriously contemplating returning it. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly hard this game pushes my PC. My system is more than capable of running modern games without breaking a sweat, yet Funko Fusion ramps up my hardware like crazy for no apparent reason. The performance just doesn't seem optimized, especially considering the visuals aren't doing anything particularly groundbreaking. The controls are another major issue. They feel incredibly clunky and awkward to play with. I tested the game using an Xbox controller, a DualSense, and a DualShock 4, and every experience was frustrating. The controller layouts are poorly designed, and what's even worse is that you can't properly remap the buttons. You're limited to only two preset layouts, neither of which feels natural. I constantly found myself accidentally moving the camera around when all I wanted to do was run or interact with objects. This game simply does not play well with controllers, which is disappointing for a game that seems like it should. Then there's the saving system, or whatever is going on with it. I had to restart from the beginning twice because my progress didn't save. Losing progress after less than 20 minutes is enough to kill anyone's motivation to keep playing. Whether it's a bug or something else, it shouldn't be happening. Speaking of bugs, the game feels extremely buggy and clunky overall. Nothing feels polished, and almost every aspect of the experience left me feeling like I was fighting the game instead of enjoying it. The biggest disappointment for me is that I'm an avid Funko collector, which is the entire reason I gave this game a chance. I even own some of the special Funko Pops that are supposed to unlock content in-game. Unfortunately, two of the figures I own wouldn't work, despite being advertised as compatible. That was the final straw. I only paid $1.75 for the game, and somehow I still feel like I got scammed. I really wanted to like this because I'm a huge Funko fan, but between the poor optimization, terrible controller support, buggy save system, and broken figure integration, I just can't recommend it based on my experience.
yeah listen to the reviews on this one. this game barely runs on my pretty beefy computer. even on the lowest settings, the game is incredibly choppy. ive only played for 15 minutes and i can already tell the combat and mechanics are unoriginal and boring. please dont get this. i cannot stress this enough, do not waste your money on this
Really disappointing. Bland gameplay that feels slow, clunky and takes forever. It's a lot like the Lego games, with a lot of grunting and noises and very little to no story in place, just going nuts. But not so nuts that you can select whatever character you want, no! the deluxe edition is a "free" upgrade, but you cannot upgrade it by itself, you can only buy it as part of a pack. I tried. I cannot use any characters I have codes for, until I unlock them in game. This is extremely disappointing because wasn't the whole point of this game to play as whoever you wanted? I forgot to turn the game off and now it's at 6 hours and I can't return it. Waste of a $1.75
The Lego gameplay is very simple yet effective, and Funko did the impossible by missing the formula and made it worse. Even with -95% off it's not worth it at all.
Crap This game is not crap. Why you ask. Because its an insult to crap. I wouldnt even wipe my booty with this game my booty would rather die. Id rather jack of with sandpaper then play this game more. Id rather have a buffalo take a diarea dump in my ear id rather eat the rotten poophole of a roadkill skunk and down it with beer. An absolute insult to call this a game.
It's a pretty good game, good fun, but it's a shame there are so many bugs that are sure to waste a ton of time. I am still in mid game, I would be further along if it weren't for the bugs. Here is a list of bugs I have encountered so far 1. The thing - first level, the huskys you have to find. One of them completely disappears as if by magick. This happened 3 times. No way to progress to the next part, without all 6 in the drop off area. 2. Umbrella academy - the second level. It's pretty time consuming on its own. You have guide Luther to the theater. Get all the way to the very end, after defeating all of the goons, all you have to do is open the purple chest and grab the gold crown, to progress to the next level. But the chest never allows you to open it, because the bug makes the thing think the enemies aren't yet defeated. Even though they are. I had to do that level 3 or 4 times and spent over 5 hours total, before it finally allowed me to progress. 3. Just now I was playing the second level of scott pilgrim, and I'm pretty sure it was the last bit of the main fight in the level. But right before I could bust this window to get the enemy out of his camper again, my character fell through the world and is currently floating around in a gray SUV world with a black sky. No way out but to restart the level again. 4. There are also other minor issues I have encountered with the collectibles. Some of them simply disappear or are never there to begin with. I have also had trouble with some of the dlc I bought ( the Halloween pack ) it took days before it finally randomly showed up in game, but not one of the specified character costumes is in my game yet. There are a few Halloween characters that randomly popped up as playable characters yesterday. But they are not the ones from the pack that I purchased. I like the ones I have even better, mostly. But it makes me weary about purchasing any more dlc because I have no idea if it is all missing and what I have is supposed to be in the game, or if that is just part of the pack and they just weren't pictured, or if it's not even relevant to the actual pack I bought. A couple of the free packs aren't showing up in game either. Right now it just seems like buying dlc is a crap shoot on if it is actually going to be playable or be what was described in the sale listing. The game runs fine on steam deck/linux. If you like LEGO games. This is similar in how you smash objects around you to get currency. Though the game feels similar at first, it is a little different but mostly just focused on combat and collecting with a few little side missions thrown in. Would I recommend it? That's the tough part. From what I have played so far, it's fun and entertaining. But I'm not even half way done yet and these bugs are becoming quite a burden/annoyance, to the point of you wishing it would just be over. I would recommend you play it, but I would urge you not to pay full price until the developers fix these level breaking bugs. I only paid just short of $4 and I feel I have got my monies worth, but I would have been very very irritated if I had paid full price. I don't feel it is worth the current asking price, unless it gets fixed and gets new content added. Other than that, it's a good game to waste time. If you catch a good sale, I say go for it, but beware, you are probably in for some irritation
