God I wish there was more content about this game!
Fostering Apocalypse is a half-hour narrative with a few bits of game play tossed in that include key mashing, key matching, and dialog choices. Also includes multiple endings for some replayability. Worth picking up if you want a distraction and/or you want to help a small indie studio fund more works.
Positive about Fostering Apocalypse, but with a bit of spoiler?
The premise of rescuing a baby demon in a post-apocalypse outland from a cultist to use it to once again create another apocalypse is so compelling to me (I hope we see a movie like, but with the same character of course). Love how Del just decided to adopt Barrett and make it her mission to protect it at all cost, I'm sure many animals lover and owners would adore owning a demon as their child (I surely did).
I enjoy the appeal of the realistic background and object along with the 2D character with the muddy colour red and blue palette which fits the setting of this game. Furthermore, I like how even in an apocalypse, there is some comforting moment like listening to music, beating up the trash bins for food, and adapting little demon child. I wish the game was a bit longer so we can get attached and learn more about the characters, also I would have liked to see more mini-game to make it more challenging to earn we food found and to make it harder to choose who we feed. Other than that, as Incisor Studio's first game this was a treat I hope they create more soon.
Incredible 30 minute experience, I hope this is made into a full project one day but its been 4 years since release so i wont hold my breath
Fostering Apocalypse is a unique little indie games with elements of adventure, visual novel and brawlers plus a pinch of survival. It has multiple choices and endings in the story and the graphics remind of the Famicom and Sega Master System era. It is one of those games where a true indie team sat behind it and gave it quality over quantity so it is short but rather unique and memorable.
I got this from the Queer Games Bundle last night and everything about it is so good. Perfect lunchbreak game.
A quick, cute little game. A bit light on actual game play, but the story is good and they did a great job creating a cute, believable bond between characters in a short amount of time. Snatch it up on sale or if you have an extra five bucks.
A short, sweet little game.
