6/10 game only downsides were the frame drops and the story going a little to slow in the middle
while i haven't fully played the game, in the time that i played it, i did not understand why this was hated as much as it was. the game has alot of dialogue, sure, but that's kind of the territory to be had in video games with voice acting, and the option to be able to switch off conversations between frey & the cuff during gameplay is available if people find it annoying. the gameplay is simple, yet effective, and builds with every new addition to your arsenal and makes the first few minutes of shooting rocks seem like i couldn't be able to beat this game without more abilities. Frey as a character is fine, while not my favorite protagonist, someone who grew up alone and with trust issues in a world that tries to gain her trust feels like an interesting dillema for her character, and the infamous "did i just do that?" moment is contextually fitting due to it being her reality changing after realizing she was able to use magic and having a moment to think after the adrenaline wore off. as for the quips and witty dialogue, other characters such as Spider-man and Chai from Hi-Fi Rush also get the same/similar treatment with the writing, so as a critique it feels dishonest to hate it here and give it a pass with those other media on my end. the biggest criticism i have of it before everything else, is really just performance. this game crashes on the first major boss for Steam Deck, and i don't know how it is on windows because this game isn't intended for lower rigs. if they fixed that, i would love to come back and play through the rest so i can update this review, but as it currently is, i cannot recommend it, at least on PC. try on Console if you wanna take an interest and make your own opinions instead.
I literally played this game for 20 minutes and was overwhelmed by stuttering and visuel buggs. Honestly verry dissapointing that a game can be sold like this and left in this state for 3 years now.
"Luminous engine" you say? There is nothing "exceptionally glowing, bright, or beautiful," one of many possible definitions for the word luminous, that can be said about this games performance. It's a stuttering, clunky, mess. I am on a roll with being a victim of trailers, and "captive" & wholly unrealistic gameplay trailers it would seem. I feel like when [attempting to play more than] playing games recently it's been like trying to win the lottery with an expired ticket, that doesn't have the winning numbers on it anyway dude. I would love to download a game, get it playing, LIKE IT, and leave a glowing review—people might start to think I'm a negative person with the almost excluesively negative game reviews I've been writing of late.

The Main Story line is cool with his plotwist, the gameplay is fine, not the best but definetly better play it with a controller than a keyboard. If you gotta choose i would buy it on sales, it's not that bad as the critics says. It's not a diamond, but it's a good ride for an adventure. The only handicap i felt some times was the optimization, besides that, all cool. 7,5/10
