About
The truth is in the details.
In Forensics: Crime Scene Detective, you are the scientific authority that provides investigators with the facts. Your work begins when the sirens fade and silence settles over the crime scene.

With a cool head and a trained eye, you enter apartments, bars, and basements where something unimaginable has happened — or is said to have happened. Equipped with professional tools, you search for what others miss: a subtle fingerprint on a wine glass, a deleted message on a smartphone, a tiny blood spatter that casts doubt on a statement.

From Crime Scene to Laboratory:
Securing evidence is only the beginning. In the lab, the evidence tells its story. You compare DNA profiles, reconstruct bullet trajectories, decrypt digital devices, and piece together fragments into a clear overall picture. Your analyses incriminate perpetrators — or exonerate the innocent. Not every bloody crime scene is a murder. And not everything that seems obvious is the truth.

“Based on the experience and insights of experts from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP).”
With professional guidance from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate, the game portrays forensic work as authentically as possible. Experience cases drawn from real life: sober, logical, and relentless in their evaluation of evidence. Find the traces. Analyze the facts. Reveal the truth.

Realistic Forensics:

Missions are inspired by real scenarios and based on the experience and insights of real experts from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP).
Crime Scene Work & Laboratory Analysis:
The gameplay loop challenges you twice — first through meticulous crime scene investigation, then through logical data analysis in the lab.
Incriminate or Exonerate:
Your work determines the fate of suspects. Discover whether it was self-defense, murder, an accident, or a staged crime scene.
Your Instinct Matters:
You decide which traces are relevant. Overlooked evidence can leave a case unsolved.

Erneut lesen wie was funktioniert, Fehlanzeige.
I've only played it 36 minutes, yes, but A: I played a couple hours the demo before it came out and B: This review isn't about the Game, but rather about the devs. This game came out 4 days ago. Got a lot of harsh critiques - some, rightfully so. And I still think there is a lot to improve, like, why do I need to put the camera out and only then can take smth else and not directly can take smth else or have multiple things in my hands or some kind of toolbelt or why is there not a single crime scene with all types of evidence and I just need to find all the evidence whatever I find and it's not "go and find" without telling what to find. Anyhow. We're day 4 after launch. We're also at Patch 4 after launch. Every Day since launch there has been a patch improving just a few things. Not perfect, sure, but in comparison to other devs who need months for fixes, this is great. I am recommending this not for the game it is right now, but for the potential and the amound of work the devs put into it
Forensics: Crime Scene Detective
I'll say this: I was engaged for all 10 hours. But I stayed for the collecting and matching play. This game is not "simulation" material, nor complex to solve cases. Forensics is a confirmation sim, not a deduction game. The game narrows the suspect pool for you. You never build your own suspect list or type a name into a database. Your job is to gather the evidence, run it, match it, cross-check fingerprints, and upload. Validating a chain the game has already built. You do not build one. Mostly I was fine with that. Deduction is someone else's role in the fiction, and I didn't buy this expecting to be the detective. If deduction with evidence is what you're after, Scene Investigators is the game to look at instead.
The loop
The scene is sealed and empty. No people and you can't walk out of bounds. Lights are setup already so you can never look in the wrong place. You pick up your tools one at a time and drop numbered evidence cards next to the items the game highlights (If you stare at it long enough.) Then you walk back to your case, take the camera, and photograph every card against its evidence. Fingerprints: dust the print, brush the excess, lift it with tape, all interative steps, no QTE. Ballistics: pick up the laser arrow, place in the hole, set the camera over the projectile view, set the timer, spray the air to reveal the trajectory line, capture. You repeat this until every piece is recorded. It's all automatic by design, and the tool work itself is valid and sometimes satisfying to set up.
Where it falls short as a "simulation"
Evidence is a binary 100% or 0% match. There's no fail state, if you match something wrong, the game doesn't flag it or fail you, it simply won't advance until the match is correct. Your "analysis" can't incriminate or exonerate anyone the way the store page implies; the outcome is fixed and you're just surfacing it. The front page and title shot sells drama the game doesn't have. The loop never changes across all 15 cases (plus 4 training cases). Later cases don't get harder, they just hand you more to collect, I found around 20 pieces in some. Evidence never conflicts. Nothing goes wrong. You execute a fixed procedure and the game waits for the correct input. I like simulation games, and I don't mean it needs to be complex. Farming Simulator isn't complex, but its systems actually respond. Crops fail, machines break, and you can mismanage them. Forensics: Crime Scene Detective has none of that. Nothing pushes back: no fail state, no accidents, no consequence for doing it wrong. Fingerprint matching is the most tedious part by far. You pick the pattern type, then point out matching grooves and loops across two prints side by side. With one suspect it's fine. As more people get involved, it becomes a slog. If matching evidence is already a chore to you, this is where the game will lose you.
Also worth noting
There are no bodies or blood at the scenes, you arrive after everything's been cleared. The bloody scenes shown on the Steam store page are not in the game.

Verdict: A competent evidence-matching game wearing a simulation's coat. I stayed engaged, but it's billed as forensic simulation and the forensic work is too automated and trivial to earn that.
I have requested a refund... the idea of the game is spot on, the execution however is terrible, 'tutorial' cases dont even give you the full information you need to get through them. I get its just come out but I was actually looking forward to playing this and it just feels like such a let down compared to what I thought it would be like. I am not big on leaving negative reviews unless I feel something really deserves it and in my opinion this one does, good concept just very poorly executed.
I was on my way to confirm that Dexter was the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bay harbor butcher..... But I had gotten stuck on the mission shooting mishap with no way to progress, even starting a new game. I need the devs to release a patch to fix the mission bug, I need to catch the bay harbor butcher.
People complaining here that you don't get to investigate any of the cases.... NO ♥♥♥♥ SHERLOCK A forensics team doesn't solve any cases they COLLECT EVIDENCE shocking i know You want to solve cases but can't get over that little conundrum on your own huh
I got bored and irritated and logged out within less then 20 minutes.
Sometimes the game is a bit tedious, having to match tons of fingerprints manually and having some of the matches somehow not be correct despite them being exact (which has been worked on, and I'm grateful for that). The game is truly fun to play and work through the cases as the guy behind the desk working just with the evidence. I'm really looking forward to more cases coming out and hopefully a bit more in-depth ways to solve cases.
es wurde mir empfohlen und ich muss sagen, zu Recht, als fanatischer Krimifan finde ich es toll in die Rolle der KTU selber zu schlüpfen. Es macht mir viel Spaß obwohl ich schon "etwas älter" bin.
