Yes, yes, yes!
I adored this, and can't wait to replay it to try and get the rest of the achievements. Highly recommend! The 90's aesthetics and vibes are pristine!
Loved it! Art style is so satisfying and actually very creepy. Interesting plot with a fun game mechanic. Didn't find it jarring or boring at any point. Would highly recommend!
The vibes are immaculate and the game is fun (and spooky) 10/10
fantastic and addictive little game with a great ms-dos horror frame
(INSCRYPTION + BALATRO) - ROGUELIKE = Forbidden Solitaire
Well, this is a good game. The main problem is that this game exists in a world where there are more well-known examples with similar mechanics, story ideas, and overall vibes. I just can't help myself: I cannot see this game in a vacuum, and I want to compare it a lot. Umm... so, in a "vacuum", this game is perfect. It has enough mechanics to stay fresh, constantly stacks new features, and combines them in weird ways. The game is short enough not to become repetitive, and it's not punishing at all, so you won't be replaying one level ten times and praying to the gods of random. And the solitaire itself is weird enough, with all these shapes, stealth, and monsters, to feel very unique! But the creepypasta feels a bit artificial. The lore and the story feel like an additional layer placed on top of the game just to make it scarier. And while it is creepy and adds some depth, this layer feels disconnected from the actual game. If you added this fake desktop, videos, and text files to Balatro, it would easily become horror Balatro. Maybe I just wanted the lore to be more intertwined with the game you play, the pace to be a bit slower, and the build-up to lead to a huge revelation. Story-wise, it is just too flat. There are no twists and turns, and there is no real anticipation. Even before you start the game, you already receive a text saying that this game is weird, unknown, and scary. You start playing, and it immediately hits you with, "You know, this is cursed", so you naturally expect the curse to find you. Then the conversation reveals the nature of the curse, describes what you will face at the end, and provides instructions you need to follow to avoid it. And then, at the end of the game, you see exactly what you were told. No "wow", no surprise, just... yeah. Emotionally flat. So, does the lack of difficulty and replayability make this game bad? No. This is a good short experience that doesn't drag on longer than needed. Does the pacing of the story make it bad? No. The story itself is good and eerie, and it was a fun ride. But as a result, I just think that with these ideas and this premise, this could have been a much better game
Very cool Solitaire card battler game. I play a lot of games like this, and Forbidden Solitaire's old school "dark fantasy" setting stands out and gives Inscryption vibes. Mechanically, the game is closer to true solitaire games like Faerie Solitaire, but tone and how it feels to play makes it more of a turn based action game. I beat the correct (happy?) ending in about 8 hours, definitely going to play through again for the other ending.
i love the vibe, fantastic story
very cool
