[h1] Although this game looks a little basic, it is actually a good bit of old school fun. [/h1] The premise is simple. Just fire your football at enemies to destroy them in the hope that they may drop a medallion for you to pick up. Collecting fifteen medallions moves you on to the next level where there are more difficult enemies to contend with. Occasionally, a defeated foe will release a football streaker which if caught will reward you with an extra life, up to a maximum of six lives. This game gets quite frantic quite quickly. The football bounces randomly around the screen and then just stops somewhere for you to go and pick up. The enemies have no fixed movement patterns and can change direction at a moments notice, so just retrieving the ball is a challenge. Once you have the ball you start to walk slower so you need to get rid of it quickly. The game area is quite small and more enemies seem to spawn on regular occasions making it quite congested at times. Your character moves quite swiftly and you get just as much satisfaction out of dodging enemies than you do by destroying them. There are a lot of different enemies, some can shoot at you, some drop webs which you and the ball can get caught in, some fire lazers, and they all move at different paces. Even if you hit them and they drop a medallion you then have to weigh up whether it is safe to retrieve it or not. Medallions disappear after about ten seconds so sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and just go for it. This makes the game quite exciting. Five achievements have just been added which will definitely prolong the experience, but two of these will be very challenging to acquire. My highest score was sixty-nine whereas the last achievement is for two hundred and forty medallions. It would be nice to see some leader boards introduced. In terms of game art, I’m hoping for improvements in the color palette or overall style. Unter der Prämisse, dass man es im Multiplayer spielen kann, es Achievements hat und weniger als 1€ kostet, kann man bei Gefallen des Looks und als Genreliebhaber (!!) zugreifen. As a result, medals are dropped from time to time, which count as points. That was more or less the whole game. I only played it in single player. The game feels like Pong to me. I played it for 11 minutes and that was enough for me. On the premise that you can play it in multiplayer, it has achievements and costs less than €1, you can pick it up if you like the look and are a genre lover. The gameplay video shows what you can expect - and what you can't.

[h1]A Fun Challenge For Time-Poor Gamers[/h1] Football Squad is the latest game from Ferulox Studios. It is their first game on Steam since December of 2022. It's always good to see small indie studios return after some time away with a fresh title. Ferulox has been busy establishing itself in recent years as a developer of old-school style arcade games and they don't move away from that here. As a passionate sports fan and gamer, I hoped the game would be right up my alley. When it comes to gameplay the title delivers with aplomb. It's very simplistic - players need to go and chase a football on a pitch and fire it at aliens who are invading. A successful hit will cause the invader to be removed from the screen and occasionally drop a medallion. When you collect enough medallions you advance to the next level. The aliens' abilities and appearance vary with each level introducing a fresh challenge. I found this to be the peak of the game. Nothing gets stale and boring. Levels are designed to be completed rather quickly making this game ideal for time-poor gamers who only have brief periods to play. If I was to criticize the game, it would be that I would love for the football aspect of the game to carry more purpose. As far as I can tell there is no way to kick a goal other than to collect the medallions. I spent a few minutes attempting to shoot not at the aliens but at the goals anticipating that something would happen. When nothing did I took this as a missed opportunity to add something special to the game - something that would have elevated it further. (Edit: According to another player there is an easter egg to be discovered here, thank you kamikaze62). This is another fun and challenging game from Ferulox. I spent my childhood playing games like this on systems like the Atari, Commodore 64, my first PCs and in the 1980's video game arcades with friends. It's always a pleasure trying Ferulox's latest homage to this historic era of video games. Thank you to the devs for providing the key. I hope to play another Ferulox game in the future.

Avec ces bons vieux jeux d'arcade, ces premières consoles nes, gameboy color, ces pc amiga et atari... C'était le bon vieux temps ! [b] Football Squad [/b] est un petit jeu rétro qui ne nous aurait pas laissé/es indifférents ou indifférentes à cette époque là, et de nos jours c'est un jeu qui nous donnerais envie de l'emmener partout dans notre petite console rétro portable. D'ailleurs je le conseille vivement à celles ou ceux qui ont la chance de posséder un "steam deck". Vu le titre, je m'attendais à un jeu de football rétro, pixélisé comme ceux que l'on découvrait pour la première fois sur Nintendo, mais au lieu de ça j'ai était surprise par le gameplay. Le jeu n'est en fait pas réellement un jeu sportif, avec une équipe classique sur un terrain de football, il ressemble plutôt à un jeu de dodgeball où l'objectif n'est pas de marquer des buts contre une équipe adverse, mais de défoncer à grands coups de ballon des ennemis qui apparaissent en pagaille et à tout-va sur le terrain. Ces ennemis ressemblent beaucoup à ceux du premier jeu de Ferulox Studios : "xeyyex" un titre tout aussi amusant entre parenthèses... ces monstres ont des spécificités différentes, certains sont rapides, des cannons vous bombardent, d'autres cherchent à vous griller avec leurs rayons laser qui traversent tout l'écran, d'autres encore explosent de partout attention à leurs projections ! [b] Football Squad [/b] est nerveux, amusant et même addictif mais il n'est pas si simple et il vous faudra ruser et passer entre les ennemis pour aller rechercher votre ballon à l'autre bout du terrain si vous jouez en solo. Il peut se jouer également à 2 sur le même pc ou en remote play together, il est certainement plus amusant à 2, mais apporte plus de difficulté et de challenge lorsqu'on y joue seul/e. Pour passer au niveau suivant, vous devrez aller récupérer 15 médaillons que certains monstres lâcheront de façon aléatoire. Vous perdrez de précieuses vies au cours de vos parties, et il n'est pas dit qui vous parviendrez aisément à dépasser le niveau 20, ni à décrocher tous les succès. Mais au final tout est une question de concentration, évitez au maximum de vous faire toucher et ne conservez pas le ballon trop longtemps entre les mains car cela a pour effet de vous ralentir dans vos déplacements. Et puis aussi attention au carton rouge !!! L'arbitre n'est pas toujours sympa... Parfois aussi lorsqu'il ne vous reste plus qu'une seule vie et que vous croyez déjà tout perdu, rien n'est joué, il se peut que des ennemis lâchent un petit bonhomme qui se promène partout sur le terrain et cela plusieurs fois dans un même niveau, alors courrez vite les récupérer et votre nombre de vies deviendra moins critique !! Comme ces jeux d'antan, il n'est pas permis de sauvegarder, si vous comptez vous surpasser, et tenter d'avancer le plus loin possible dans les niveaux, prévoyez donc un moment libre sans devoir sortir ou vaquer à d'autres occupations entre deux. c'était tout le charme des jeux rétro, essayer encore et encore. Amusant, difficile mais gratifiant sont les mots qui résument plus ou moins ce jeu, attendez-vous à avoir les mains moites, des montées d'adrénaline et une explosion de joie lorsque vous parvenez à passer au niveau d'après.
