Step into the timeless world of Intellivision's iconic hit, Astrosmash! Relive the excitement of the golden age of gaming with this addictive, fast-paced shooter that has captivated players for generations. If you never have played this, it's the one all your old boomer friends have been telling you about for the last 4 years! This game brought many children to the radio shack to pick up a intellivsion back in the day. Do you like shooting? You can do it here! Do you like amazing sound effects? You got it! This is a dream come true to many next level gamers and retro bothers! Unity for all retro-kind! Maybe we'll hear these sweet sounds at the next VGL. I tried this game on my laptop and it ran great! Using my xbox controller I was able to get right into the game. You can't configure the keys in the game which kind of stinks, but steam controller config will let you remap them at least on Deck. Yes, this amazing game runs on the Steam deck! The default controller setup uses the trigger to shoot, X to teleport left or right and B to reset the game. The steam deck seems a little laggy on shooting. I'm not sure if that's because of proton or what. There doesn't seem to be a native Linux port here. That would be a bonus if there was one. Would I recommend this game? No, it's simply too expensive for what you get and it's not deck verified and there is no configuration options. if this was 2 bucks and had more configuration options, I would consider it, but I am going to have to refund for now. I hope the developer gives these game a little TLC in the future.
Game looks and plays very close to the original except for one major thing. There is no "auto fire" function that I can find anywhere. Not having this makes the game just about unbearable to play as you have to hit the trigger multiple times a second.
There is no autofire on the keyboard like there should be
Let’s face it, Astrosmash in this version is completely to fail. At Christmas 1982 I was given an intellivision console that contained this title as a gift: ASTROSMASH. The intellivision consoles, and the SEGA SATURN console, are the 2 hardware to which I am most attached, and more I love for their software, despite my endless collection of retro hardware and software in my possession. And, precisely because of this premise I will be very critical in analyzing this astrosmash, developed by this small German indie studio, linked to that scam of the scammer musician Tommy Tallarico, promoter and creator of intellivision friend, that crap vaporware, that it should have revived the fame of the iconic Mattel intellivision from the early 80s, starting in October 2020. The aficionados are still waiting, after the scam of almost 10 million dollars, volatilized and usurped own by tallarico and associates. Wait and hope... Astrosmash 1981, it should have been the exact transposition of the old but very playable title between space invaders and asteroids. It’s a shame that the developers, despite the extreme simplicity of programming the game itself, have managed to create a disaster that completely revolutionizes the original gameplay. Difficulty levels, sounds, colors, core gameplay, completely different from those available in the historical cartridge. Commands are set up, Pause button is not present, like the continuous focus button. In short, at the end of the day, it seems an emulation interpreted by the authors and done in a very bad way, without representing us in exactly the same way Astrosmash 1981, year in which the game was released In the final, continue to play this historic title for fans on original hardware, like mine, or with emulation. This title, also considering the price, for the purists of the historical console or even for the simple nostalgic or retro fans is absolutely to be discarded.
Folglich sollte man deren Zerstörung priorisieren.
Awful controls. With keyboard the ship does not stop when button is released. With controller RT is the key for shooting, so you have a long way to press before a shot is released. Was free with the Retro Gamer Magazine, seems they just throw a game togeter in a day or two to keep it cheap.
Super Umsetzung wie früher.
The gameplay is the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (what do you expect from an 1981 release?), but the game itself is pretty cool
