This is the very second sequel to the Flowers saga, a continuation from sur printempts, taking place once again at the same academy during the summer season. Although we're somewhat behind the introduction of the characters due to its prequel, there are gonna be a couple major events that are gonna change the course where it'd be otherwise heading to. The discussion about the previous events that happened during spring is inevitable and one of the major twists that the story's gonna offer, so skipping it isn't a good idea. It doesn't carry on as heavy theme and atmosphere as its prequel, and instead focuses on the further development of the relationships of the students. It's written just as perfectly as its prequel, carrying some poethic moments within, and nothing feels forced. The voice acting is top notch, but that's to be expected, right.. With the mostly the same characters being present, aye? There's gonna be an addition or a mention of a couple characters that didn't and couldn't get an introduction previously aswell. Many of the tracks do carry on far less melancholic melody, they feel incredibly peaceful at times. Nothing's out of the place, or at least I haven't managed to pinpoint anything out on my own, so I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through this, becoming hungry for more. The artworks are also seeing no changes in my opinion, with the newly introduced character(s) being the inevitable exception to that. And the details are.. In fact, somewhat surpassing the detailed introduction of the characters previously, but that might just be a doing of the further character development as expected. Whether I'd put a recommendation to this one or not depends solely on whether the reader has an interest in finishing them all or has read the prequel; If so, then it's an absolute must. Reading's been a bliss, albeit not really triggering the emotions that I experienced previously, but it was nonetheless very much satisfactory. Some of the tracks do fit in so well that they convey the text far better than the words do, but should be far easier to read than the prequel. Now, I do no longer seem to recall, but I believe that I've only ever read through it just once, and that was years ago. At the same time, I expect this review to be carrying on its accuracy as the one before, purely because the entire saga's hit me so deep that I seem to remember most of it even after more than five years by now. The length seemed to be a tad longer than before, but who knows.. Perhaps, I've been reading more slowly this time 'round, taking five more hours to read than the prequel. The necessity of obtaining the font fix for a couple letters to appear correctly still applies, and should be only a concern if the reader decides to skip the prequel of the whole saga.. Which is highly discouraged, if you ask me. Anyway, with the formatting help of the initial review, this one should cover it all. Hopefully, am not missin' anything- Happy reading!
My Review: Flowers -Eté- Overall Impression: 10/10 Everything about this chapter—the atmosphere, the soundtrack, and the character writing—is simply exquisite. What I loved most was how Chidori was introduced. At first, she’s brutally honest to the point of being blunt, seemingly indifferent to how her words affect others. Her first meeting with Erika didn't start well, but watching them slowly adjust their behaviors to live together and eventually opening up about their deep-seated struggles was incredibly rewarding. The Evolution of Erika: In Printemps, Erika felt mysterious and a bit "shifty" because she was mainly the "detective." But in Eté, we finally see her depth. I loved seeing her masculine speech patterns, her sense of humor, and especially her bashful side when complimented—something we rarely saw before. She went from being just a "weird character" to someone I truly adore. (As Chidori said, they’re both weirdos anyway!) The Mysteries (8/10): The puzzles here felt more grounded in observation and deductive skill rather than the heavy religious themes of the first game. The Green Hook Man: It was a clever twist! I suspected a thief, but Erika realized it was actually Suoh in a green raincoat, using a hook-shaped flashlight to search for clues about Mayuri at night. Solving this because Erika knew about Suoh and Mayuri’s relationship was a great touch. The Missing Rabbit: A simple but effective puzzle that played on Chidori’s poor eyesight—she accidentally picked up the rabbit hidden in the straw! The Endings (10/10): There are 10 endings in total (including 5 Bad Ends). Sister Dalia’s Ending: It was surprising to see Erika’s romantic feelings for Dalia. It’s a bittersweet, one-sided love because of Dalia’s position as a Sister. The "More Than Friends" & "Farewell" Endings: These were emotional. Learning about Chidori’s Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (distorted perception) was heartbreaking. I felt a bit empty in the Farewell end where she leaves to follow her dreams, leaving Erika alone again. Couples & True Ending: THE SWEETEST! The morning kisses and the duet in the True End had me smiling nonstop. It’s the canon happiness I waited for the whole game. Final Thoughts: This sequel made me understand and love Erika so much more. While I still miss the first game, Eté is currently my favorite. The music even reminded me of the cozy vibes in Stardew Valley! Also, the Sasaki twins are the best support characters—they balance the tense scenes with so much cuteness and humor. I’m not sure what’s waiting for me in the next season, but I’m sure it’ll be an amazing journey. Next Season, here I come! Thanks for reading!
