This game is creepy as hell, and I love it. The good: the art and story are top notch. The bad: it's pretty dark in a few areas, and it's not always 100% apparent (even with some less-than-subtle guidance) what you should do next. Still, this game is awesome, and you need to play it. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. EDIT: Beat the game. My positive take still stands, but I was NOT a fan of the final chase sequence. Too much going on at once, and a system that favors the chaser, NOT the player. I also was over-thinking the whole thing and ignoring the obvious and made it more difficult for myself. Still, not a bad game, and I enjoyed the ending I got.
A spooky game with an interesting story and an exciting world to take place in. The music and sound design is absolutely awesome and the art style contributes well to the creepy atmosphere. My only complaint is a few of the puzzles/challenges are significantly more difficult than the rest, but that may not be the case for other players. I highly recommend!
"Fleshport" is a horror-adventure RPGMaker game. It's very unique and you can feel the love that went into the making of this game. The most "filling" horror game yet! ^^ Just be careful to not end up being the dessert... Grimy, creepy, eerie, spooky, disturbing, gory, grotesque, bleak. Those are only some of the words one can use to describe it. What truly makes it unsettling isn't even the story itself (a random fleshport, a portal, swallowed you and spit you out in a cannibalistic world). No... The allegorism, the metaphors and small random commentary and situations, are though... I don't want to go into great detail as to not spoil it but I found it astonishing how can such a small indie game touch upon subjects varying from political, sociological and ethical, to psychological and borderline existential. And, even more amazing, was how it managed to pull it off so seemingly effortlessly, smoothly and camouflaged. It flies under the radar because of the theatrics of the story itself but, you can see through all the smoke due to subtle hints scattered throughout documents, books, paintings, lines of dialogue, Nipsy (your guide bunny) and more! A refreshing take on a classic horror idea set in a dystopian flesh-eating world! Keep in mind that the game started developing long before the covid-19 outbreak, sometime in 2016, despite its steam release being in 2021. So, no.. It doesn't try to take advantage on the "outbreak hype" that we have seen a lot lately on every media form and outlet. What defines us in the darkest hour?... What would you do to survive?... Will you play along or rebel and risk it all?... Of course, there are countless clumsy, weird and funny moments, along with humorous dialogue! They serve as breathing points for all to relax and remember how even when everything looks pitch black, horrifying and deadly, life always finds a way to surprise you and welcome you back into the light! The gameplay itself is typical of the genre. Run around trying to find clues and objects to save yourself. Oh... And many running sequences; run for your life! ^^ It could use a little better sense of direction, more to the point clues and some clearer guidance but, when you figure it out, it does make sense. It's a bit more obscured than what's typically expected from such a game. It is an experience you should live! Very dark, very humorous, very spirited! What you will discover is really unexpected; a roller coaster of thoughts and feelings. The cannibals and all the flesh eating, will only be the appetizer to the biggest nightmare dinner you'll ever have! Because the true horrors are what's inside us... All the things we can't see and don't immediately threaten us... All the gore in the world can't match the horror of what is behind the cause of it.
i love this game!!!
I'll admit when it comes to games i'm quite slow (i'm sure you can tell) , so please note this review is from someone who isn't a avid gamer, i just like to have fun with whatever my laptop can run. ૮₍˶Ó﹏Ò ⑅₎ა Here's some factors that make the game enjoyable: ☆ This game is very tense so if you're like me, you'll be saving and hiding a lot. ☆ The puzzles were at times challenging but still remained fun... that 4 doll one was something else... o_O ☆ There's some really interesting ideas and mechanics, Nipsy was a lot of fun to talk to, it was oddly comforting whenever Nipsy or the other....'non-harmful' characters were around, there intentions were often ambiguous which was really clever, i felt comfortable but not completely safe, i still had my finger on shift ready to run \(˚☐˚”)/ ☆ If you like story driven games OR scary games with gruesome themes you'll enjoy this game! ☆ There's a lot to explore in this game, i'm already keen to play-through again. ☆ The game has interesting characters, at first it's hard to tell who's trustworthy, which is nerve-racking. ☆ Also you can play a game inside the game, we are living in the future. o( ˶ ^ ꇴ ^˶ )o Hopefully this review is helpful to anyone, this is my first time writing a review on steam ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄
I loved this game. A genuinely emotive experience and totally unique. An amazing example of what indie creators can do with a basic game engine and excellent writing. The story is interesting, with a strong fundamental concept, and the characters are endearing and intriguing. Puzzles are challenging but achievable. The game has a great atmosphere from start to finish, with the graphical style, music and pacing well-implemented to maximise the horror. A reminder of the good, old days of retro horror games like First Fear. The universe and lore are wonderfully dense and involved. Can feel the time and love that has gone into bringing it to life.
RPG maker horror with a distinct art style that makes it even scarier
First of all: Do not save the game while you are being chased. This may cause the game to crash any time you try to continue the game and if you only used one save slot, you will have to restart the game. I had to restart the game which was annoying but in my second playthrough I remembered not to save while being chased and everything went well.

The song the developer made is very nice. They even have it on Spotify. When you upload a game to Steam I guess it's a bit of roulette. Regardless of an indie game's quality, there's a chance that not many people will discover and play it. I think the thumbnail art for the game looks both boring and weird. The trailer also does not do the game justice. Overall, I am very impressed with the game. I only have some minor things to criticise. I don't really understand the lore but I have ADHD so it might not be the game's fault. Aside from the game crashing maybe 2 or 3 times in my second playthrough, I don't remember encountering any bugs. I believe the game only crashed due to me speedrunning through the dialogue since I had already read it all in my first playthrough. I think the music throughout the game is fine but it's a bit boring and could be a lot better. Some of the tracks have a sharp high pitch sound which I find painful. At the same time, most of them are very interesting. My least favourite area in the game is the syringe area - I won't spoil anything. It took me a very very long time to work out how you are supposed to survive Preoria there until I realised in one of the rooms, you had to go near a trap first and hope she gets trapped before going to the item in the room. I hacked the health in the game just to survive this one area. It's basically almost the end of the game but I have no problem with the other areas in the game. My only other area annoyance is with how dark the laboratory is. I did a bunch of zigzagging to get around objects there. The game has some secrets although I wonder if some things are a red herring that is intended to make you think there's more secrets than there actually are. For example an X on the side of a building but I have no idea what to do there so maybe it's not a secret. The game has a decent atmosphere and interesting story from what I can understand. Visually it's both hit and miss - some things look better than other things in the game. Generally I do like the way the game looks. Preoria, Shaye, Pugsly, the dolls and that butcher are my favourite characters and I think they look better than the other characters in the game. Shaye is very cute. Nipsy reminds me of Frank from Donnie Darko (even though Frank isn't pink) or Gummo. I haven't watched Gummo, but I've seen a character from that movie who wears a bunny hat. The game has a kind of New Game +. I haven't finished the New Game + yet but it has a few cool things in it. Playing the game again after your first time should be a lot faster because you know what to do. This game is very speedrunnable. I hope the developer makes more games.
This game kinda rules. just a short and sweet RPG maker horror game I got on a whim. if you got 9 bucks, give it a shot.
Playing Fleshport was really nostalgic and fun - as someone who really enjoyed growing up with games made in the rpg maker, this was really nice. The story was pretty tight and the graphics were charming! The overall mood was super solid and me and my significant other had a lot of fun playing this together. The atmosphere was good and just reminiscent of games i adored in my younger years. I'm very pleased to put fleshport up on my shelf of the few games i have completed on my own and I really look forward to seeing more from Zentient games!
If lore/narrative driven horror games are your type of game, you will definitely be interested in playing this. The game is a good length and has many secrets and little optional details to uncover. Actions in the game can lead to a number of different endings which adds to replay value. Characters feel very fleshed out, and the world draws you in almost immediately. Puzzles range from simple to very difficult but nothing feels broken or impossible. Soundtrack is incredibly atmospheric and extremely fitting for the vibe of this universe. A lot of love and care clearly went into crafting this game. An extremely wonderful addition to the world of indie gaming.
