in vereda you're an undercover agent, tasked with finding a dossier somewhere in the city. it's one of the many escape room adventures, though with its occasional outdoor locations it feels less claustrophobic than most. after figuring out how to get out of your room, that is. it's a 1st-person game, wasd to move, mouse looks around, left click to interact, right to zoom out. there are keys for jumping, crouching, diary, inventory, flashlight, except most of them don't work, as there's no such functionality in the game, and the diary remains empty all the way through. there's an invert mouse toggle, sensitivity slider, controls are rebindable and controller is also supported, but movement is very floaty. what's worse, alt+tab makes the cursor disappear, have to exit the current puzzle, menu or whatever to get it back. there are 10 sections, none of them should take too long because puzzles are mostly on the easy side. the whole thing can be done in about 2 hours, probably less. going near interactable things reveals icons and you're also informed if something is missing. inventory items are used automatically to fill such gaps, unlock doors, etc. puzzles are a good variety and there is no timing, action or other nonsense, but there's a reset button for them if you want to start over. there's also a really annoying camera switch after most puzzles. it's not a pretty game by any stretch, not that it matters much. audio serves its purpose, nothing more. settings are decent on paper and available while playing as well, but separate volume settings are buggy, turning them all down still leaves some of the audio on and it's impossible to lower the sound of the annoying thud when clicking a locked drawer or something. not sure why subtitles are optional if there are no voiceovers (there's also a slider for voice) and english is the only available language, despite the arrows on the language select screen. there are resolution options and graphics detail settings from low to ultra, which is a bit vague, nothing to toggle separately, and vsync is badly needed, screen-tearing is insane. I normally don't notice or care about it, but it was really annoying here. 3 save slots/profiles and manual saving is possible anytime, but only by overwriting the current save. not great but still better than many other games in the genre. autosaving may or may not happen and there is no chapter/location select. the whole thing is very amateurish, buggy and unpolished, even though this is the developer's 6th similar game. based on release dates they come out every few months, which explains a lot, and I don't even want to imagine how much worse the previous offerings must be like. less would be more, instead of churning out mediocre or worse products, spend more time on getting things right and go from there. probably start with removing references to things that don't even exist (running, jumping, diary, voiceovers, etc.). oh, and make sure saving and loading works properly. I couldn't finish the game because my save from the previous day wouldn't load, was stuck on an endless loading screen.
Definite NO. Buggy interactions were not showstoppers in the early part of the game. When you get close to things, icons appears to let you know you can click on them. However, they seem to come and go for no reason. Moving away, then back close again, solved this well enough to keep playing. Until we got about 90% of the way through, and clicked an icon to move an object. Doing so blocks a puzzle. Walkthroughs show the object moving back, and out of the way, by an identical click. But we never got the icon to appear again after the object moved the first time. Game comes to a complete halt at this point. There is an exact complaint about this in the Discussions section of this game's Community. Developer should have fixed it immediately.
A bad puzzle game, the puzzles are repetitive and unoriginal. And the hints for the puzzles, are sometimes obtuse, not to mention that on several occassions, you need knowledge outside the game, in order to solve the puzzles. That means good knowledge of English, and good knowledge of riddles, and also having kinda the same mindset as the puzzle designer, not good. "If I hold a bee in my hand, what do I have in my eye?" Using just that, you're supposed to find the answer, with a keypad that has jumbled letters. 'BEAUTY'.. specific knowledge of a certain language, and how times like 3:50 is spelled in English, 10 2 4, have no place in puzzle games. The only thing needed to solve the puzzles, should be found in the game, not being reliant on knowledge outside of the game. Bad puzzle game, steer clear! The Puzzle Lovers curator is absolutely right. The game is so buggy it locked, had to reload.
Lots of varied puzzles! Some easy, others a bit more difficult to figure out. Tip: don't attempt this if you're color-blind. Also, there is math computation involved. Great game!
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
It's.. okay. A lot of the puzzles are good escape room puzzles, but a few of them are just the cheesy pun-riddles you find on old 90's riddle websites. And there's no in-game hint system, so if you can't figure one of those out, too bad, you're just stuck for good. I noticed a large similarity between M9 Games (the developers) and Mc2 Games, who also make escape room games. A lot of the sound effects, models, and transitions are exactly the same. I thought they might be publishing under an alias, but it turns out there's an "escape room creator" on the Unity Store which comes with all the assets and logic, which both teams used without customizing. For an experienced puzzle-solver the game takes about 90 minutes to beat. Overall I think this game would be worth purchasing on sale, but there are definitely better escape room games on Steam, including the ones by Mc2 Games mentioned above.
So-so. Puzzles mostly very easy and very similar. It's OK but very short. 5/10.
Mam mieszane uczucia, co do tej produkcji. Gra to ewidentny średniak - ani zła, ani dobra. Ostatecznie 4/10
I played this on May 21st. It was funny. Joke aside though the puzzles were either very simple or very strangely obscure. Interesting experience overall.
You definitely get your money worth with all the puzzles throughout, but it really takes a lot of out of game knowledge/logic to complete and you have to find out what the puzzle is asking you to begin with which can be an extreme struggle it's definitely a good brain teaser, but I think I'm out of my depth the creator is nice and will give you hints if you ask though. One thing I would recommend is letting the player know what some of the puzzles are asking so there imagination doesn't run wild and go off on the wrong track it would make the game feel extremely more accessible for instance the game over room puzzle if you put instructions or some type of prompt such as what word goes with all three of these words, but has a different meaning for each or something like that it'd be a lot easier to figure out said word when I first saw the puzzle I was thinking what is a game over room is there a synonym is this a quote from a book? Does this have something to do with vereda etc. etc.
I really wanted to like this game, but it suffers from a number of issue. As a fan of Escape Room games I’ve been a number of them in person and feel I’m good when for spotting clues and figuring out a good riddle or puzzle, but this games turns it up to 11 with some of their clues and suffers from some technical issues. Pros (+) Game is as presented in trailer Meh (/) There’s some kind of secret agent story but it is largely forgettable. Th Cons (-) From the first room some puzzles are super vague, to the point where they are so helpful as they are frustrating. I was using a guide from the beginning. Gave up once I reached the alley. (-) Buggy, laggy, screen blurs, freezes and crashes. This is not a massive launch title so why does my laptop have a hard time running this? (-) Super Buggy. Enter a code right and the game doesn’t register it the first time had to back away from the puzzle and re-try using same answer for it to register. For one puzzle I had to exit the game and re-enter the code.
