Both Death Skid Marks and Fission Superstar X used to have price tags. DSK is now free and FSX isn't sold on Steam anymore. I wouldn't go searching for a key. This was a poorly balanced and estranged follow up to an already random-difficulty mess of a game. If you happen to get a key from a random bundle, it's a slog to finish; you're at the whim of random numbers no matter how good your strategy. Just turn the computer off, roll some dice and smack yourself in the face every time you don't roll a 3.
You will be missed... farewell Dr. Leopold.
💥Conclusione.
this game can be fun but after you figure out do to the heavy RNG you have a very low chance of completing a run. skill will also not save you in this game because if RNGesus feels you need to die you're dead. 1 enemy can come in at a blind spot or just with a strong weapon and it's game over and this can and WILL happen before you can get a good build going. on that subject it's really hard to actually get a good build going with RNG shops after each fight part and RNG items within said shops you could end up not getting anything helpful. redoing the build up phase over and over and over also gets tiring and makes you wish you could skip it for a stronger build later in the run. fighting gives you a gun for each crew member (4 but you start with only 2) on each of the 4 compass directions. the guns do not over lap so if someone is in front of you you can only use the forward gun. you do get a special weapon in the center of the ship that can push things away. you'll do a little flight part with a huge sprite for a ship where enemies will spawn from random spots and come in at you. if you don't die on these parts you'll get an upgrade (for special, armor, or aim) then you'll have 4 choices these include places to buy weapons, special weapons, crews, repair, or move on into deep space, following a comets tail, and other options. the shops are all different choices and the crew shop only has 1 crew for each slot. for the space option i'm not sure if using these do anything other than move you closer/farther away from the end goal since thats all the info that they give. your ability to dodging is also very limited as your ship is so big and not having all 4 gunners can be a death sentence is something powerful come from that direction. the story is taken from a rick and morty episode but that's not a bad thing since a game like this is lose on plot and only use it for a reason to go from point A to point B. the games fun and has some nice tunes so if you get past it's flaws you could really enjoy it. that said the flaws are huge and really take away from the fun. it's like playing a bullet hell game but with a ship that can't dodge the bullets.
Fission Superstar X is a labour of love, a monument in praise of cheesy 60's sci-fi, 90's era side-shmups and the sort of art direction and light-hearted silliness that used to be common in videogames of the early 90s. This game feels like something you might have played in an arcade in 1996, while waiting for your parents to pick you up from a movie theatre. It's not of course, its a roguelite with modern design sensibilities and so many sprites on the screen it would make a neogeo board cry, but it FEELS like one. In terms of mechanics, there's nothing terribly complex here. The PoV is zoomed in so far that you wont be able to do much fancy manoeuvring or tricky shooting, the upgrades and weapons aren't anything ground breaking or particularly novel, and the enemies have predictable blindspots and weaknesses that you'll need to exploit. After a few dozen runs, it can get pretty repetitive. But the feel, the FEEL of it! Between the stellar spritework, the goofy plot, the beautiful debris effects and the spot-on 16-bit era sound design, this game just absolutely nails the feeling of something you rented from a blockbuster, spent way too many hours plugged into over a weekend and had to re-rent because it was juuuuuuust a bit too tough to beat in a week. Maybe that only appeals to old farts like me. But if you know, you know. This game knows.
buen juego bro 7/10
I only bought this because it's being removed from Steam. I don't really recommend it because it's not my style BUT I didn't really give it a chance and I could see how someone could like it. Basically ignore this review, I just wanted to say the reason why I bought it.
