(Using Oculus Rift) If you're both a fan of Final Space and an owner of a VR set, then I'd say this game is worth it. I'm writing this review just as I completed the game, which was just shy of 2 hours long for me. The game plays much like a classic FPS: after picking your favorite member of Team Squad, you are given a generic pistol and can pick up cooler weapons you find later on. You walk down linear corridors and shoot bad guys, occasionally finding yourself fighting off waves of bads in a big arena. As you progress through the game, different enemies with different mechanics appear to challenge you. If you're looking for a state of the art VR shooter experience, you might want to keep looking. While this game seems to run great and was a fun time overall, it was noticeably short and doesn't really boast any incredibly innovative gameplay that hasn't been done in dozens of other VR Shoot-'Em-Ups. But like I said already: if you enjoyed the show (and are just as devastated by the cancellation as I am) and you have the system to play this, just pick it up. I don't think you'll regret it.
A fun little extra side story from the Final Space franchise. Its by no means Half Life Alyx, but if you're into Final Space and enjoy arcade style first person shooters, then this is probably right up your alley. You have 4 options to play as your favorite Final Space character and can play with up to 3 other people in co-op. While the gameplay leans to a more arcade style, you are free to roam the ship on a linear path while you shoot you way through hoards of robots. It makes me sad knowing that Final space has ended on season 3 without a solid conclusion but this was a nice little surprise for fans of the series. Seems to be fully voiced by the original cast or at least, very convincing soundalikes. At $15 it is definitely worth it for fans of the series or even for someone just looking for a polished, co-op, PVE shooter that they can jump in and out of with friends and family.
👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
English: -------------------------------> Final Space: The Rescue by Grab Games, a short but fun shooter in the universe of the Netflix animated series. Now finally playable with Index and Knuckles! After Netflix unfortunately canceled the series after three seasons unfinished, we can now finally dive back into the world of Gary, Avocato, Nightfall and Tribore to save Mooncake to save! You don't necessarily have to have watched the series to dive into the game, but it does make it easier to get into the humor. The story is simple, while we - we can later choose either Gary, Nightfall, Avocato or Tribore - are on a secret mission, Mooncake is kidnapped by robots. After locating him in an abandoned space prison, it's now up to us to rescue him ... The dialogue in the short story is hilarious and maintains the biting humor of the series. Final Space can be played either alone or, for fun, with up to three friends. Unfortunately, there are only 3 missions, each lasting about 30 minutes. What's great, even though Final Space is just a comic(wave) shooter, is that there is good physics and we can't reach through objects, which always adds to the immersion in Virtual Reality. The weapons (pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, fusion rifle and grenade launcher) can be operated with either one or two hands to improve accuracy, and work very well, although very arcade-heavy. However, the weapons have a reloading mechanic (ammo is infinite), in that we can shorten the reload time if we pull the trigger at the right time. But we can also strike with our weapons in close combat, handy if enemies get too close while reloading, or suddenly stand behind us. A compass arrow is displayed to help us find our way in the rather tubular levels, which is very practical and also useful for people who don't understand English, as it lets them know exactly where to go next. However, our protagonist moves really slowly, so it doesn't matter who we choose. The enemies, on the other hand, already move at the speed of light. This fact doesn't necessarily make the game easier. There is also no teleport, with which we could possibly hop faster. Only very slow free movement. In addition, there are all the other typical comfort options. Interactions in Final Rescue are also very rudimentary for a VR game. For example, we just put our hand on some plates to open doors.... and that's it. Everything else is done automatically, including the use of access cards. This is a great pity, because small interactions always increase immersion in VR. The gameplay is unfortunately also just as simple, the first half of the game is basically a tutorial to familiarize us with the different weapon types, mechanics and enemies. We encounter S.A.M.E.S., who melee or strafe us. They are even quite agile, dodging or seeking cover. In addition, there are a few small aliens, flying drones, robots with shields, a mini-boss and the final boss of the game. Unfortunately, the game is very repetitive. We enter a room, take out the enemies and move on. The best way to have fun from start to finish is clearly in co-op mode. The graphics are, of course, the comic book environment of the series, which is wonderfully captured. The animations, the weapons, the landscapes, the design - superb. A must for fans for that reason alone. The sound is just as good and the voices are of course the original ones from the series. The game unfortunately takes a while to get going, although it's very short, and when it does, it's already over. Basically, Final Space: The Rescue is fun for fans.
Very fun. Tribore can stare into your soul six times deeper than any of the other characters. Also we get cookies. On a more serious note, this game just makes me happy. The gameplay and art style are a lot of fun (although I do wish there was a sprint option). But my favorite thing is definitely the dialogue and the soundtrack. Both make me want to rewatch the show over and over again.
pro tip: you can turn vignetting off other than it being on by default, this is a great game, especially with friends. It's short but fun and worth the money for any Final Space fan. Oh and buy the graphic novel coming soon!
This game had some issues when it was originally launched with all VR Headsets except oculus ones. But now the devs updated the game and it works on many other supported models as Vive ones. I managed to test this further and now it rocks on my Vive PRO! The game looks and plays as a good arcade FPS with good cartoon enemies and visuals, mixed with humor and action moments . Weapons are mostly automatic with different shooting styles like machine guns, shotgun, plasma gun, pistol, grenade launcher, etc. You are moving inside a prison that is now full of enemy clones and other nasty monsters/suprises. The shooting part is a fast arcade either on narrow passages or defending a sector level to achieve specific objetives. So far I have to say it is good casual FPS fun, you can rise the difficulty so there is also a good challenge to overcome chaotic shootings. Cons: It seems to be only 3 levels as those appear listed from starters. Will finish the game then and confirm... But I can still recommend it because I'm enjoying it :)
It got my height correct straight from the get go unlike most other games was really nice to pick things up off the floor, And within ten mins I'd already laughed my ass off a couple of times, screamed for a cookie and cried for Mooncake. Good game, few minor bugs but plenty fun! Only real complaint is the length, but who knows we might get more chapters in the future.
it has smooth movement and clean graphics. it has the foundation for a good shooter, but I hate the way enemies just spawn out of nowhere in any random location. this does not allow you to plan your movement accordingly and approach the fight in any tactical way... you just spin around to see if something appeared at your back when you may be standing next to a wall. if the enemies were coming from visible locations that made sense instead of spawning randomly out of thin air, I would have probably liked this... but as it is now, that's a refund for me. sorry...
