thoroughly enjoyed this little piece of nostalgia.
Don't buy this and play the original first, it's on Steam. Only play this if you are already a fan of the original.
The original is an absolute masterpiece and an easy 10/10 while this is more of a 7/10. Very disappointed in some changes to the story, some high points of the story that had you gasp out loud just don't hit at all. Pacing is atrocious and half the game feels just like those late Naruto seasons that are only filler. The gameplay at least is generally good but a bit clunky at times. *Small spoiler ahead* By far the biggest issue is that an entire useless layer was added to the story with some multiverse BS. It's incredibly convoluted and doesn't add anything to the story. It only makes the plot a total mess that will completely confuse people new to the franchise. Even returning players that played the original will still wonder WTF they are even trying to do. This whole multiverse mess robs the story of the much more important themes of the story and overshadows them. This is the main reason the original ~40h game is a much better use of your precious time. I feel like this game neither completely pleases newcomers nor people who played the original.. unless you like messy convoluted multiverse elements added to an already perfect story.
Great game!
ultra gut
Love final fantasy games. Have played I, II, III, IV, VII (2013), VII, VIII, VIII Remastered, IX, X, X-2, XI, XII, XIII, XIII-2. Lightening Returns XIII-3, XIV, and XV. Hope to play the others someday.

peak
It's an interesting remake of FF7, adds a bit of character details and provides a character reason for Cloud to stick with Avalanche.
