pretty cool game
I don't have much nostalgia for the original FF7, played it a bit like 10 years after it came out. Loved this game tho. Great music and fun/epic turn based/real-time combat that feels, looks and sounds epic. Game cycles between lots of cutscenes and story telling to good long "dungeon crawling" sessions as you go through the different storyline areas. Grabbed my attention and held it all the way thru, awwlrigh'
Its an amazing remake
I really wanted to love this game. I grew up with the original, it’s in my top 5 favourite games of all time. It seems crazy to think that the original made me cry more than once, with block characters and just reading text (and a killer soundtrack) I only recently purchased the remake because I was worried that I’d be disappointed and 11 hours in, I can’t stomach any more of this drawn out – running around – padded nightmare. I’m not going to delve into fine grain detail, I’m going to keep this superficial. First, the combat is dull. I don’t feel as though the strategy matters all that much, same with the weapon upgrades. I may not have spent long enough for it to become more relevant later in the game but it’s just dull. I cannot provide better suggestions and I understand why we can’t keep the old structure, it wouldn’t fly today. The only joy I would get is viewing the summons reimagined. Secondly, the artwork and repetition. The repetition of the dull grey artwork once in the slums just feels lazy to me. Getting Aerith back to the sector 5 slums was so awful I had to pause and walk away from my PC. Her constant talking against piles of metal and rubbish was too much, it felt like a chore. Speaking of chores - squeezing in gaps, over head climbing...... just stop, they are terrible I find the breaking of boxes irritating, they are so obvious and look out of place (I know the original chests we mostly the same) but some were different and exploration was rewarded. In the remake I have boring linear running and the same chests and boxes. It feels soulless. In the original you could go into most buildings and speak with the occupants, it had charm and personality. In the remake I have no interest in these street NPCs and would be happy to obliterate Midgar. It feels like the creators wanted to make a great game and wanted to do it justice but the cooperate side wanted to stretch it out into 100s of hours of walking to rinse it for as much money as possible. It’s not all doom and gloom though, I like Barret and Tifa. I like that it isn’t a play by play remake and that they have used slight differences. I don’t know if I will suffer through the rest, or if all play the others. Oh and “The stagger effect part 1” can kiss the fattest part of my backside. How have they not patched that ridiculously badly worded, badly conceived mission out?
Mediocre
What an incredible game!
El mejor remake del mejor juego de la historia. Excelente.
O jogo demora um pouco pra engrenar, porem esta sendo uma grata surpresa
Design Animations Story progression RPG elements All top notch. Except the absolutely frustrating, annoying, garbage combat I have every experienced in my life. Holy crap what is this. I should have watched a Let's Play instead. Only giving it a positive review because everything else is perfect and they deserve praise for the cinematic, graphical upgrade we've all been waiting for. But ngl, this should have been a series instead.
