I could write an essay about why I wouldn't recommend this game. I went into it wanting to like it. Kingdom of final fantasy hearts 7 just isn't it for me. If you like it, awesome. I do not, I don't recommend it, and I have never hated playing a game quite like I hated playing this game.
Granted I'm still early into the game (a little past Chapter 1), but I don't get all the negative reviews here. Plays buttery smooth for me and looks fantastic (was planning to play on Switch 2 but it looks awful there). Story is interesting, cool settings, great combat, and lots of side content/mini games to your heart's content (much like Intergrade). What's not to like?
Even if it's on sale - it's not worth your time. Story is fine, but I felt it grating on me (personally, not a critique of design) because of the open world. The open world is abysmal. Everything is marked on your map that you can interact with, there's virtually zero sudden, surprising, or interesting side missions. Each area has a character side quest storyline, which is just "I'm lazy - go do things for me"; has a mini-game mechanic of varying fun; has a ID ENTICAL mako lifespring quicktime event - 3 in each area; has a set of exploration Far-Cry towers; and has random chests. When going from that to a story riddled with mini-games, which is not inconsistent with the original - it makes the whole experience feel like a waste of time. No matter how good the story is, when the break from story mini-games is time wasting low quality missions, the whole experience suffers. Combat is just alright. It's fun, but there isn't much of a point to swap characters besides activating the character skills (which you can do from one character's pov anyway), or to use their moveset - of which only a few are actually fun. It was fun, but not super well designed. I only played Tifa the whole game with, again, zero reason to swap. I don't see why it was a feature, especially when you have to have Cloud in the party most the game. "Oh but options", yeah options that have near-zero depth or strategy. It serves no purpose besides pandering.
Who ever in charge of game design, thankyou for make me lose interest on Final Fantasy 7. FF7 Remake was amazing, but this? This is just yakuza game slap with FF7 for skins, might as well rename it into Final Fantasy VII Yakuza. I don't mind with bunch of mini game and side quest, but put mini game in main quest? You really want to kill your fan base huh. Congratulation you did it!!!
Акушер сбежал от роженицы, когда увидел что сделало обновление с игрой 1.005 на видеокартах амудэ - Тени (за что) - Клауд сгорел почернел - Рэд сменил расовую принадлежность - Тифа объелась пластмассы
Game looks really beautiful, but runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hot garbage with an extra steamed pile of ♥♥♥♥ on top. Occasional stutters, sometimes the game would straight up freeze my entire PC. Unreal Engine slop at its peak
20 fps on low settings in 1080p, already tried windows too

I love this game, the story is amazing and the gameplay is fun!
Awful. 25 hours in and the main story has yet to move even a tiny bit; just following black robed dudes across the world map the entire time. The open world areas are a bunch of menial tasks that make even Ubisoft games look good. The pacing is terrible. Nothing exemplifies this more than Costa del Sol, where you are forced to do fetch quests and hide seek mini games so that you can purchase swimwear. The swimwear is apparently "required" so that you can visit the beach - to no-ones surprise you can walk on the beach in normal clothing without issue as soon as the quest is complete. The party is in the middle of tracking down Sephiroth yet here they are faffing around at a seaside resort. Shortly after the beach you go to an amusement park where a bunch of mini games are forced upon you. In fact, every other main story task has you doing some kind of minigame. The Queens Blood card game is the only tolerable one, all others are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and make me feel like I'm playing some kind of arcade machine rather than a supposed triple A title. The overarching story of FF7 is intriguing and the combat is (mostly) fun, but these good elements are unfortunately behind loads of time wasting bloat just so Squenix could sell 3 full priced games instead of 1.
