I wanted to like this game but I just could not get into it. I find the story a bit meh, and there just not being much to this game. Maybe in the future I may try this game again, but as it stands, it is not worth it.
This is Final Fantasy at its absolute peak. The developers took bold risks by juggling a large ensemble cast and delivering a jaw-dropping twist at the end of Act II, but every gamble pays off. Though you inhabit many different protagonists over the course of the journey, the narrative never feels scattered. Each character is bound by shared themes of grief, identity, and learning how to exist in a changing world. These themes keep things cohesive and emotionally resonant no matter whose perspective you’re taking. And when the twist hits, it doesn’t just shock for shock’s sake. It reshapes the game itself, introducing new dynamics that keep the experience fresh and demanding right up to the finale. The soundtrack is among the series’ very best. From the iconic opera , “Maria and Draco,” to the haunting beauty of “Reverie of the Broken Phoenix,” to the character themes that capture each hero’s identity, the music elevates every scene. The only notable drawback is the funky clipart-style visuals, but that’s easily remedied with mods. This particular edition introduces some new optional endgame content (Dragon's Den and Soul Shrine) that even seasoned players at peak level will find challenging. The story alone earns this game a 10/10 from me, but the music, character writing, and gameplay variety make it unforgettable.

The story has always been one of the best in my opinion. The mechanics are pretty easy to use once you know how to work them.
Still one of the greatest games ever made
Please bring this game back for people to buy (like me) along with FFV please.
Final Fantasy VI is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling and music — Kefka remains one of gaming's greatest villains, and the moment the world turns upside down mid-game still hits hard even knowing it's coming. The ensemble cast, the esper system, and Uematsu's legendary score all come together into something that genuinely earns its reputation as one of the best RPGs ever made. That said, be warned: this Steam version is a lazy port of the mobile release, with awkward sprites and a UI clearly designed for touchscreens rather than a PC. Do yourself a favor and install the 'A World Reborn' mod before you start — it fixes the visuals, cleans up the interface, and even offers an orchestrated soundtrack that makes the already incredible music soar even higher. With the mod, this is an easy recommendation; without it, you're better off emulating the SNES or GBA version instead.
wish the window set up was more like the original but it will do...
Gran Final Fantasy que condensó todo lo aprendido por Square Soft con los anteriores Final Fantasies para darnos una gran historia con personajes memorables como Terra, Kefka e inclusive Sabin. Es un must have en tu biblioteca.
Me encanto. De los mejores RPG, una historia interezante y personajes entrañables, masmorras desafiantes y jefes epicos
loved it, but it is a bit long if you do a lot of the side-quests, Also
I didn't realise you had to wait for shadow to save him x.x
Btw. I recommend to check out the soundtracks for the opera scene with the vocals included. It is so good!
